Really beautiful drabble. I don't know why they deleted that scene, but I'm glad it was put online. I like that House *tried* talking to his dad, that he's trying to get better. This drabble is sweet and I like that you show House's vulnerable side and his examination of "was all the hatred worth it?"

As always, just lovely.

That part of the show was my favorite; even Wilson's reaction that House is getting better (and Robert Sean Leonard's rueful smile) were superb.

Whoa, I do hope John will hear him. And yeah there are always good things (you just have to see them) and yeah there can be always worse things for everyone in every situation (unless you are death). Well it's always in the whole life the principle of the half full of half empty glass or just being enough optimistically to go through the life you live. In Germany there is a "flying word": Jeder ist seines Glückes Schmied. What means:
Every man is the architect of his own fortune. Or: Man forges his own destiny.
I always think you can just be the architect of your own fortune in a way your own experiences let you do that. Being as optimistically as you can be is therefor very helpful.
