Marcus S. Lazarus 6/18/12 . chapter 12The start was definitely darker than the actual course of events, but you certainly explored the idea of how Misty, Pikachu and Brock would have reacted to such a loss very well, and your brief exploration of how Brock essentially ‘took Ash’s place’ by meeting his would-have-been travelling companions seems to work, as well as Pikachu’s decision to stay with Misty. Subsequent developments might have been a bit rushed- your reason for having the confession so soon made practical sense plot-wise, but it still might have seemed more ‘realistic’ (As much as anything involving a ghost CAN be realistic) to have each side recognising more minor clues before jumping straight to the central revelation, given how long it’s been since Ash spent time with anyone and the length of time that passed since Misty knew him (An obvious possibility is Misty realising that she finds it easier to connect with Ash rather than most people because of the sheer depth of her feelings for him even if she was too young to recognise them in the past). Still, Ash’s attempt to find a way to explore their relationship despite the handicap of him being dead and still physically ten was definitely well thought-out, with his ‘spiritual liaisons’ with Misty being a particularly effective way around that problem, and their subsequent quest to find Arceus would have been fascinating even without the threat posed by Team Galactic’s mad ambitions (Although I’m not complaining about the drama of that particular twist, I assure you). The temporal paradox of the ending was a bit confusing, but considering Arceus’s god-like nature it still makes sense, and it was definitely a dramatic conclusion whatever way you look at it. All in all, I only had one real complaint; you never showed how Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Pidgeotto and Charizard might have reacted if they had seen Ash return to them as a ghost. |

ATalkingMeowth 12/12/11 . chapter 12I love this story! I first read it about a year ago before I had an account, so now that I do I had to come back and read it again. The Spiritverse is an incredibly unique and well-written invention of yours. Generally I'm not too crazy about AU stories, but your writing really impresses me. It was sad when Delia died though... Anyways, keep writing please! I'll keep reading and make an effort to review. -A Talking Meowth |
