I think it captures the kind of pain that a kid would be feeling very well, and it fits in really well with how he is later in life with grief and emotions. love it!

Poor Niko, this is heartbreaking! Love the descriptions of the forest, and how he feels that everything is crashing down on him with the imaginary kingdom splintering around him. And I especially loved how, as it was from a child's perspective, he couldn't quite makes sense of everything he was feeling. Loved the last few lines, they were especially painfully sad.

How very sad and very well written. I like how you pictured it. I've been doing a bit of research into Nikola's life as well lately and you did a lovely job with this.
