| Surreptitious Chi X 11/1/09 . chapter 1
I just...oh. This story made me want to cry. The climax, with Artemis making Jarlaxle use the vampiric dagger to heal himself using Artemis' life force because it's the only thing Artemis has to give him...
You touched the pulse of the very thing that makes Artemis so hard a friend for Jarlaxle to hang onto. The things that Jarlaxle perceives as being safe about him are also dangerous. His loyalty, when one wins it, is the raw kind, almost a threat. Not simply 'If you betray me I'll kill you,' but 'If you betray me, I'll kill you and then I'll kill myself'. That Artemis exists on a binary. He either trusts, or he doesn't trust, and Jarlaxle's infinite shades of gray on the matter would not - do not - sit well with him at all.
Thank you for writing this story.

That... was really weird and intense, and I definitely want more.
