The very fact that this is about Drosselmeyer is pleasing to me. I have a lot of theories about him, and am working on my own little... story about him. But it will take time. All the same, thank goodness for people like you!
I like that you showed how he was before he wrote tragedies (because frankly, not enough people consider it, and I'll bet he must have been different, had to have a family if Fakir is related) so I'm very grateful. Well done, and keep writing (generally, not this story, since it is a one-shot).

Very insightful. I wouldn't normally think of Drosselmeyer as being a subject of a story as much as this fic revolves around him. I haven't even, before this, questioned his motives or character. But, you've provided me with a new insight and idea of the series. But more importantly, the idea makes sense. Quite plausible and in-character as well.
