Araloth the Random 2009-11-15 . chapter 8In a way it's hard to pity Celegorm for his ruthlessness and utter madness but I find myself feeling sorry for him anyway. Being haunted by the ghost of your brother can't be fun. I like the Caranthir and Amrod interludes and the interactions between the brothers. It was somewhat amusing, btw, to read that Caranthir felt relieved and grateful when the anger hit him! This is a very dark and haunting fic. MostlyInsane!Celegorm freaks me out and the whole ordeal shows that oaths for vengeance can never turn out well. Hope you can update soon!

LeCastor 2009-11-05 . chapter 5You're doing a great job of articulating these characterizations in a different setting. I see this as an extensive set of character studies. I'm eager to see what's next.
This Celegorm is both dark and broken - it's hard not to be sympathetic to him, and yet it's hard not to root for Beren and Luthien. In fact, you're defeating Manichean ways of looking at the world with this.
I really like your Caranthir voice, and his interaction with Pityo is pitch perfect.
It's like reading The Silmarillion, ASoIaF-style. I like it a lot. |
