These short little one-shots are amusing. And of course your hooking me on the Lawrence Emily thing, so now I'll have to see if any others are writing such, and if so, if they are anywhere as good as yours.

Why is it always Temeraire who has to push them together? Sometimes Laurence is just too stupid for his own good... But I don't want Jane to die (in many of your fic she dies or is very far - in England - while they are in Australia etc). I've started to think you don't like her that mch as a character... right?

I am SO sorry it took me this long to read it all the way through, i started olmost immediatly but had to stop. Didn't get the change to finish my reading until now :P

But about the story: amazing.

Why dont you start writing books? I would surely buy a book you've written! I love the fact Emily's face is scarred too now, and Laurence's leg is so badly injured. The way you wrote about there little fight, and temeraires comments...just blew me away. I'm serious. Amazing job.

I like this. Everyone is so much in character, particularly the British government who won't offer a pardon and yet can't manage without Temeraire.

The Chinese Ambassador should demand that Laurence, who is a prince of sorts, gets a pardon or Temeraire will be going back to China taking Laurence and family and crew and their family and dependents along. Iskierka could come along for the fun of it.

This is a much better pairing of Laurence and Emily than you have in other stories. They have genuine respect and trust in each other. But worry over possible future offspring "fighting" over Temeraire? Wouldn't that be Temeraire's choice and no real problem? I do think that this is a real solution for all of them. Laurence can mind the offspring and watch over the dragons' political interest. Emily can be Temeraire's captain, and she is the logical choice being the senior officer among Temeraire's crew/

This is a really nice story... it's very touching. You do a good job with the dialogue from that time period. There's a few phrases that jumped out at me as not time-appropriate and those were "Male chauvinist" and "rebellious teenager". I only mention these because it's obvious that you work on the time period and I thought you would want to know. It's not a criticism. I enjoyed this story very much. Thank you!

C'est charmant! Have you read the new short story by Naomi Novik, set in roman times very much akin to the temeraire? Its in an anthology of excellent dragon stories called the dragon book.

Very sweet, marvelous to see Emily taking charge of what she wants.

Ha... Laurence finally admits he has a hero complex. And the mental image of him hustling back without noticing Temeraire is hilarious.

I've got absolutely no complaints. This is a well done one-shot.

The thought of Laurence focusing so hard on booking it for nookie that he misses out on a dragon right over head made me laugh.
