Reviews for: Not What He Expected

Not quite true, Nine: you have more empathy than you think. You felt for that Dalek when it saw itself through human eyes, and you felt for the tree people who lost one of their own.

Why wouldn't he consider just leaving Rose back with her mother? And trying again with someone else?

WOW your Nine's a bit of a bastard. I guess he's got a right to be though. There is such a feeling of messed-up-ness in this story. Poor guy.

Interesting...the ninth doctor was only interested in Rose because he saw something in her and acording to this he found nothing.

There is very little mention in the beginning of this oneshot of Rose's little issues, but the part where she will not leave him alone about his world and origins is morel like the basic structure of the alternative series. You are right - she had her eyes closed, she didn't listen to Cassandra - " talking trampoline " or not, as a descendent of humans she would know that humanity is far more diverse about where it chooses to live.

I wish that you would build up the delusional aspect of Roses mind - you are already doing that but still it would be nice if it was more in depth. She seems to believe that she is the centre of the universe - your last oneshot already has her packing her bags just because of a hug.

" She only care for herself, and what was important to her," - that is true. I didn't, now you've mentioned it in others, notice her particulary care about other people in the series. She never bothered with her mother.

Please update soon.

My poor (I need to think of a different adjective) Ninth Doctor! I don't think anyone could really understand what he is really going through, but I agree that he needs a shoulder to lean on.

And the girl definitely lacks empathy. I guess that is why I love Donna (and Martha to an extent) - she had empathy and tried to help him confront his issues instead of trying to hide behind them.

Still really enjoying your series. Don't see anything wrong with it. Can't wait for more!

A little depressing, but good writing as usual. Good take on the difficulty of empathizing with something you've never personally experienced.
