As usual you have really captured Mal in a way few people can. And the "possibly" from Zoe was so Zoe.

I like how his people aren't sleeping, worried about being heard, while the Alliance fighters aren't worried. Subtle way of showing that the Browncoats aren't doing too well.

The bit with him thinking about heading home and settling down after the Browcoats had won the war is so poignant. Given that we know they don't win the war and that he's not going home, at least not to settle down. It's quite likely that the bit about him always knowing what time it is at home adds to that.

That it's "Possibly" coffe is a nice touch. A very Zoe comment.

Great ending with him picturing being home in time for the New Year's log when, even if the war ended that very minute, he wouldn't make it that year. Very well done.
