Orestes Fasting 1/27/10 . chapter 3Interesting. So far it seems quite unrelated to Les Mis, despite the appearance of Eponine and the multiple references to Azelma's life in Paris. In fact, it reminds me much more of American Gods than of Hugo, and before I went back and reread the summary and saw that more canon characters would be showing up, I was reading your physical description of Brother Apollyon through the American Gods lens. Now that I reread I see the foreshadowing, and excellent foreshadowing it is: enough to give the readers suspicions about who he is, while leaving them plenty of doubt and questions about how he wound up in his current position.
I was all geared up and ready to leave a polite but baffled review asking why you were writing this as Les Mis fanfiction, since it's novel-quality and struck me as something that would work better as original fic. Now I'm downright intrigued. Am I imagining the American Gods connection, or have the Scandinavian laborers unknowingly brought a few extra characters over with them? If Apollyon is one of them, how does that fit with the hints to his identity as a canon character? And-okay, I guess I'll just have to keep reading. |
Camilla Richard 1/23/10 . chapter 1I just have to add how creepy this whole part with Eponine was too. I love, love, love this kind of thing. I also like it that you said Azelma recognized the "arrogant" tilt of her head and her gait before she actually recognizes her sister. Wow, 'ponine was really something here...and Azelma is with child. There's no way she could be having Eponine reincarnated is there? Because of what Eponine did to her? Man, this is fabulous. Just saying. :) |
Camilla Richard 1/23/10 . chapter 3This is breathtaking. Gosh, I don't even know where to start! It's amazing. Please update this story. I always wondered what happened to Azelma and this gave me chills. The prologue especially. You write beautifully as well. I'm so glad I found this. What a treat. Certainly going on my favorites list. |
