Wow. I feel like I should say something about how good this was, but I'm stumped. Brilliance!

Loved this! Wish this is how the episode really went down (didn't mind the episode, but didn't like how Ted treated Barney up until he got hit by the bus).

Very, very good. I especially enjoyed part two, and Ted coming to terms with why he cut out Barney and not Robin.

Oh my God! That was so awesome! Oh the beautiful hurt/comfort! It's everything a girl could dream of! I really loved the description of Ted's and Barney's relationship. He does have such devotion to Ted and Ted was such a jerk! I absolutely loved this story!

Amazing! I much prefer this to the version they did on the show :P But you should probably mark it as "completed" because I almost didn't read it, since I'm looking for finished stuff. I'm glad I said what the heck and took the dive!

Very, very good. I really appreciate how you did this fic, saying that the story Ted tells to the kids is more of a sunshine and daisies type without the more horrific details. I realize that HIMYM is a comedy, so although they do get into some serious things on occasion (like in Bad News-dear Lord, that one came out of nowhere), Barney's bus accident was almost brushed over, and no one really called Ted out on what a jerk he had been to only punish Barney and not Robin. And God was he ever a jerk about the whole thing. I also really liked that you had Lily sticking up for Barney so fiercely. That's exactly the way I picture their relationship, Lily acting as a big sister of sorts for him while he feels close enough to her to actually open up about his feelings. They make it a point in the show to say that Lily can't keep secrets, but she manages to keep Barney's extremely well, excluding a few slip ups to Marshall. So, long story short, you did a great job with this and should be very proud of it.

I like this edition better than the real one, because Ted needed some serious self-loathing moments. He - AND THE OTHERS - were real assholes to Barney during that time period. It really ticked me off. Me and my mother, and my mom thinks Barney's a douche, yet when I was watching this part, she got kind of ticked off and started ranting about why on earth Ted abandoned Barney when BOTH Robin and Barney had sex TOGETHER. I think she has a soft spot for Barney after all.

Anyway, back to this. It was completely in character, and I really liked it. It was depressing, but I liked it. The show didn't give Barney ANYTHING more than a few crappy friends that suddenly realized that BARNEY IS AWESOME and could've died, and then how would they have felt?

So, yeah, I like this better. It incited a much better reaction from the characters. Plus, I like the idea of Ted getting reamed for his behaviour.

Brb, bawling forever. This was heartwrenching, and so very sweet at the end and ggggggh. 3 I can never meet Neil Patrick Harris; between fics like this and things like , if I ever saw the guy I'd suffocate him in my boobs trying to make everything better.

my god, THIS IS ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE STORIES EVER! tihs was extremely well written, and I'd always wished that the writers of How I Met Your Mother had expanded on this incedent, and how Ted and Barney became friends again. Well, I really hope that you write more stories! I love this one!

wow man this was totally awesome and amazing. How did you come up with that? They are very much still in character and Barney's and Ted's friendship is exactly the way you described it, Barney loves Ted and would do anything for him.

Thanks so much for this story, I've just added it to my favorites. Also Lilly's and Ted's talk is wonderful, it's very true that it takes ted a while to get things, but I think even without the talk, once Barney opened his eyes in the hospital Ted would have gotten it. At least I hope so
