hell-butterfly 1/18/10 . chapter 1aww it's so sweet and adorable. I do love the father figure, and you capture Arthur very finely, the seemingly simple dad who is in fact shrewd underneath. And the bits when he surveys and thinks about his children are very touching and sweet, and the line "and Harry has six...damn...five, to deal with" especially, the concealed poignancy that just can't help leaking through at times. And the ending with 'Mollywobbles' is very sweet. Oh the warm, cozy, big family. ) |

q.thews 1/17/10 . chapter 1This is great, funny and very plausible, with so many little lovable things and ideas. And it has one of the easiest, almost undetected parenting trick, the bad cop nice cop one :-) Ciao! |

Ravenclaw85 1/16/10 . chapter 1I absolutly loved it. I think it was a first from Arthur's POV. It was great. The small tells of a lie, a father would definatly know those about his kids. The way he picks up on thier small "unoticable" interactions, great! I'm looking forward to reading more of your work. |
Norseman4 1/16/10 . chapter 1Very entertaining. |
Taressa 1/16/10 . chapter 1 this is fantastic! You captured his thought process very beautifully and I really liked your characterization of Arthur Weasly I too believe he is a bit underrated in these novels but it definetly looks like he uses it to his advantage...it's funny because I do this exact same thing! But you've done an excellent job writing this little one shot and I whole heartedly approve! sorry for spelling errors-thanks! |

Vera Rozalsky 1/16/10 . chapter 1Arthur Weasley is a man of mystery, indeed. I've been writing the Weasleys, and Arthur has kept to the margins and refused to come into focus. (Except for one bit when he and Molly were, er, renewing their vows out of sight of the children, i.e. having a rather lengthy post-war private moment in the broom shed). Now I know why. I _adore_ this piece, particularly the insight into Arthur and Molly's marriage; I like how the fires of youth flare up through what's apparently a warm, nicely banked, domestic hearth. 'Old folk' and homebodies such as Molly and Arthur can and do have passionate love lives, and you've painted it without giving us a single 'explicit' detail. Arthur doesn't miss a thing, either, in the interactions between the younger generation. The double portraits of Harry and Ginny on the one hand, and Ron and Hermione on the other, are masterful: two different relationships, two different kinds of passion. The present-tense stream of consciousness is very effective here, walking the boundary between the novel and theatrical writing. PM me if you'd like a technical close reading on this one, because it would be a pleasure. Excellent work! |
