Best moment was them arguing about "HOLY CRAP, I JUST TOOK ELEMENTAL DAMAGE" from the earth. As someone who was raised in Camp Pokeymanz, I feel like there has to be at least 8 elements in strategy. My own Disgaea story is going more for Fire Ice Wind Star(doubles as Twilight) Earth Lightning Light Darkness, but that's just me.

Ah, it's good to see you writing again. That and that your level of writing seems to have remained high. A classic loveable mad-scientist character and her surprisingly intelligent ogre minion, so far so good. That bit with the refresher was particularly funny and you did nice detail work with things like Norse Mythology or Charon being some horrible Lovecraftian horror.

I also believe real science should always involve beakers, test tubes, and Jacob's ladders.

I remember you from your days when you made the Azumanga/Godzilla fic a few years ago, and that too was an enjoyable read. Much to my surprise, I found a new work of yours, and it's in a fandom I recently entrenched myself into! Oh YEAH!

Right off the bat, I recognize the names of Ginnungagap and Niflheim from Tales of Symphonia (which was taken from some mythology I forget), which is amusing (and even more amusing since it likely has nothing to do with ToS). So our apparent main character is in fact, a girl modeled after Mao's own heart-amusing, to be honest with you, especially since I'm somehow a bigger Mao fanboy than Laharl... but I hope she's different from Mao enough to be her own character. Her servant is also a nice, droll foil to her.

Aside from setting up base, not much appears to have happened, so I can only wait and see what exactly you plan to do with this, and the other characters that are around. Making new job classes? New monsters? Who's gonna get cameos or minor roles? I can only keep an eye on this and watch the fireworks.

I may or may not poke you on lj, depends on how unlazy I get and how far I can work my own Disgaea project.

Very good! You got the Disgaea feel right down to the letter. And I love the character of Taliba. If they do make a 4 installment, the hero really should be female. This most likely won't happen for a while, but will there be cameos from characters from the past game. Mao's pretty much a given (since Taliba came from Evil Academy), but no Disgaea feels like a real Disgaea without Laharl-sama!

I've never played the game, so I did just enough research to know what a Prinny was (knowledge which turned out to be useful) and dived in. I think the "brief refresher" was my favorite bit.
