Reviews for La Résistance
hol119 2/9/10 . chapter 1
Oh my God. Just .God. It's moments like these that I wish wish wish that I was a writer so that I could express to you just how good your story is. Alas I am not and I cannot. I've gone straight to my go-to emotion (stunned) when I stumble upon a really fantastic fic that just takes me away and I've come over here to review and gush to you and I CAN'T THINK of a single thing that will tell you how much I LOVE your story, your characters, the plot, how the conversations just flowed so magnificently and how it's now alive & ingrained in my head and my wussperv heart. It's like my emotional brain takes over and I haven't room for my logical brain anymore. I'm just stunned. The air of menace, Esme's dawning horror & resolution, such rich characters already (poor poor Aro), not to mention the subject matter and the scary as hell Gerard *shivers* oh God Danger Danger!

Whenever I have a crap day I say to myself "Self, you've got two arms, two legs and you were born in Australia. You're pretty damn lucky mate so quit complaining". I think I'm gonna have to add thank Christ I wasn't around when WWII was going on. It's just mind boggling to think about what those poor people went through.

Gah. Just Gah.

My dearest Spangly - I am so bowled over by this story. You are such an amazing writer and I know you have a pretty cool RL but seriously - you're not fan fic talented, you're *talented* talented. This is not a fan fic story. This is epic.

When you become famous, will you still write smut for me?

I was absolutely thrilled when this came across my blackberry and read it immediately. I haven't touched a computer until this morning, but I wanted to compliment you on a wonderful companion piece to GWaRU. You're absolutely right, this stands alone as an intriguing story that I'm very much looking forward to reading.

Great first chapter. :)

I loved the Girl with the Red Umbrella and I loved the portrayal of Esme and Carlisle in that story - which is why I'm so exceedingly happy to see this fic! I'm horribly interested about Esme's background and her story. Excellent beginning, I love the characterizations of everyone and the obvious research that has gone into this. I'm eagerly awaiting for the next chapter.

Loved it! What a great characterization of Esme! Her tenacity and compassion used in such a different setting, I love it! Can't wait to read more!

I'm so, so, so proud of you, Spangly. This is wonderful. I'm so glad you decided to post it and I can't wait to read more. You always surprise us with new, different, amazing things.
Kataleena 2/6/10 . chapter 1
This is absolutely amazing. Wow, just, wow. A fitting tribute to the horror of the time. This is publishable, more than publishable, this is actual literature worthy, not just entertaining drivel. I cannot wait to see what you do with this, if the rest if half as good as the first chapter, this could be the one of the best things I've ever read. You put so much emotion into this, you can almost feel what Esme is feeling.

Wonderful!

I have yet to read GwaRU, but I have a fascination with WWII. That and your teasers during our WC have been getting my attention.

I was completely drawn into the picture you have created of Esme and her world. The slow progression of happy times, thinking the war will be over soon, to making the change to someone who finds strength in herself for those she loves after the hard realization of what is truly happening.

Your words, as always are like a wonderful mix of vividly colored oil paints on a large canvas creating a masterpiece. Such heart is present in this story that I'm just grateful that I get to witness it. Lovely, just absolutely lovely.

xoxo.

I like this...of course, I love Esme, and always thinks she deserves her own story. I see how this is a companion to the Girl w/The Red Umbrella...I hope you will continue to tell her story!
