SurroundedInDarkness 5/23/13 . chapter 40Well I don't have anything to really contribute. Partially because it's about 3am here. But I think the fact that I read this in 2 days speaks for itself. But anyway I have a fanfic you can add to your collection. Dance With Me by .Fenix. I will admit that I enjoyed this one at first, during my first few months as a fangirl. But once the craze left me and I took off my tinted fangirl glasses I realized just how bad it was. So I'm hoping to redeem myself by sending this fic to you. |
Social Riot 1/5/13 . chapter 20Your writing, setting, your everything is so great. Your fanfiction is so good it deserves it's own fanfiction, seriously. I am rarely so engrossed in someone's writing on here... Should you ever publish a book I'd be all over it. I suck at reviews and don't usually give them, but you deserve the praise. Your OCs are likeable and loveable characters who I really care about. And your Scarecrow? Actually... you depict him better in your fanfiction than he's depicted in the actual film. Great work, I really can't wait to read more. |
Maggie Wilde 1/4/13 . chapter 40I blame you for keeping me up very late. By seeing your lovely reviews, you may have heard this before, but this is a truly wonderful piece of writing. By far it's not exactly a very nice story, and I found myself feeling almost, a little horrified, especially at all that blood imagery towards the beginning of the story. I've read lots of Crane fanfictions and your take on him is brilliant - a true evil genius. Your original characters have a lot of depth to them, and I have burst out laughing a few times, your wit is brilliant. Occasionally I thought the banter between Crane and Joe went on for too long, but it was entertaining at the start. I love Danielle's Gran! I slightly agree with your little statement at the beginning, having read a lot of fanfiction, but i don't completely agree either. I think perhaps although there are some writers out there who only depict it as a typical love story and that Crane perhaps does have a soul, there are others who have used that and made it into a good piece of writing. I think perhaps it's a little unfair to debase the other fanfictions entirely. Any-who...This story has had quite a profound effect on me and I am inspired! :D |
Maggie Wilde 1/3/13 . chapter 3"It's an asylum, not Wal-mart..." Brilliant! And the thing about the loo and Ode to Joy. I have only just started and I am very amused by your wit. |
Turnip 12/17/12 . chapter 40 This is amazing. Sickening, horrifying, heartwarming, and hilarious in equal parts - how did you manage that? I have to say, I never liked the Nolan verse Scarecrow. He just...didn't feel like Jonathan Crane to me, not really. But in your story? He is. He is the Scarecrow, and you made him so totally the Scarecrow in every moment. The maddest of mad scientists! Few people understand how to get this character just right, but in my opinion, the whole point of him is the realization that Crane's MIND is the truly terrifying thing, more than the fear toxin, more than the torture, it's Crane himself that you should fear - he's the one delivering them. It's like how 'guns don't kill people, people kill people.' The fear toxin is powerful, but Crane is the sick bastard who has you strapped down and is injecting you with the stuff. You made /Crane/ scary, not just his actions or the results. You made /him/ scary and that's why you got his character right. And Joe and Danielle were awesome protagonists. Joe, of course, was awesome and is now my fictional hero. Danielle, however, was so realistic and sympathetic - she wasn't a swooning damsel, whatever Scarecrow might accuse her of, but she was acting like a real person in that she was terrified out of her wits. Real people can't always endure under torture. Real people break (not that Joe didn't feel real, he did break in his own way, too. At times it felt like he was only resisting because he honestly didn't care about his own life anymore, and that's definitely a sign of breaking a bit). Real people sometimes have to sit and quietly cry because they don't even know HOW to resist, let alone summon the courage to DO SO. She managed to stay strong in small ways, useful ways, very real-hostage ways, such as scrambling for her phone, knowing when to shut up and not insult the madman, and by offering moral support to Joe when he needed it most. And pacing! Such good pacing! The story went from humor to horror so very gradually and NATURALLY that I barely even noticed. How many real life television writers can manage that, trying to stick DRAMA in something FUNNY? I can't even think of a good example right now, that's how few. They always mess it up, until the finished pile of crap is something that is neither good enough to be funny, but you can't take it seriously enough for the drama to matter. It ends up being a raggedy quilt so half-assedly sewn together that the Scarecrow himself would throw it away, saying "Please, even I don't approve of such a shoddy piece of patchwork!" You managed to go from a relatively humorous beginning to a grim and gory torture session, but the whole thing was seamless and none of the emotional intensity was compromised - it was strengthened by the well-executed juxtaposition. Yay! Batman never showed up in this story, but it sure had a lot of heroism in it. I tip my hat to you. What I originally thought would be little more a vengeful "I'll show those desperate self-insert morons!*" fic turned out to be a impressive, strong story with good writing and excellent characters. Bravo! *(While I hate poorly written, poorly thought out, horribly out of character romances as much as the next reader who hasn't had a lobotomy, sometimes the anti-romance backlash fics can be just as bad. Especially the horrid "I'm going to make an on-purpose Mary Sue who is every Mary Sue stereotype ever and then she is going to be brutally murdered" one shots. Those are just /boring/ and serve no point, as the target audience either already agrees with you or will flame it and continue writing trashy romances.) Once again, BRAVO! |
LookAtTheBeautifulDay 12/10/12 . chapter 40What do I say here that somebody hasen't already? Peanut Savage. There. Now that I've been original enough for one review, lemme get down to business. This is the first fanfiction from Nolan-verse that wasen't utterly impossible to get through. I had found this a while ago and had been chipping away at reading it for a while. There was even such a long break in there i had to restart. I have to say, it was quite an enjoyable ride. Your characterization is simply charming and your way of writing is just excellent. You even found a way to include my second favorite character, Zsasz. Hell, you made Schiff adorable to me. This is a gem lost in a minefield and I won't be forgetting this any time soon. Consider yourself one of my favorite-if not my favorite- author. |
BatmanPirates 11/19/12 . chapter 1I will admit this is a intresting story but,This is not the kind of story I like to read. This is one of the first storys I read on this website. I want to thank you for giving me that crtizizm I will try to work on it. I also gave me s few ideas. :) |
Glamour Addict 9/13/12 . chapter 40 That was one of the best I've read in some time. . I love the last tid bit parts, those were great. |
Fell4 8/28/12 . chapter 40Thank you, thank you, thank you! For writing a great story AND finishing it! You are an example to us all! |
Fell4 8/28/12 . chapter 39I was surprised at how much I liked Schiff-I didn't like him at all when he was first introduced, but he's grown on me. I see more of his intelligence near the end maybe? |
Fell4 8/27/12 . chapter 36Moral road-also because he could use me beating him up against me in court and might actually go free. Which would make me madder than a hornets nest! |
Fell4 8/26/12 . chapter 35Really Night Monkey? Really? Like they NEED more whumping! Haven't you put those two through enough?! |
Fell4 8/26/12 . chapter 34If they were only with me for a short period of time-Scarecrow (unless it was the death toxin), if however, I was to be with them for say, an hour, I would choose Zsasz-Scarecrow getting off on my fear and pain is just too disturbing. |
Fell4 8/26/12 . chapter 30I can't believe she said that! Does she WANT to die? He MIGHT POSSIBLY have not gone after her with a bloody vengeance like with Joe, but not after that comment! *shakes head* Poor girl... |
IShouldBeInAStraightJacket 8/5/12 . chapter 1OMG! I'm going to die from boredom! This is just ick! |
