wow. that's all i can say. your write with such beauty and eloquence, yet you can add in the bitter and raw emotion that clove holds in with such skill that the story doesn't turn out rough.

"She doesn't like him, but he's home in this place so foreign and when the foreshadowing of death looming over her every time she closes her eyes."

this line though. absolutely blew my mind. it just reflects how much clove's trying not to get attached to cato, yet she has to. it gives those careers an extra layer of emotion, albeit, a very strange one, but emotion all the same. you just captured how their love isn't a conventional fairy tale, but deep and confusing and a mix of blood and competition and their values they were raised by.

"because she can't help but think how much the girl looks like a girl from back home; Cato's girl, compact and pretty in a way Clove has never been able to achieve"

ugh, and my heart wrenched for clove at this point. i don't think in the book it ever mentions that clove is particularly pretty (especially lined up next to glimmer), and i love how followed by that. that clove is a girl too, and she envies these shallow things just like any other girl.

the last paragraph is amazing though. it was interesting how it was all one line and her memories are a blur from then. that she doesn't know what was going on because she put her guard down for that split second when she was going through a surge of anger towards katniss.

all in all, phenomenal. i hope you don't mind that i pretty much analyzed clove's character in this review as well. d: hope to see much more from you. (:

wow omg how have i not read this before? anyway, i love this. SO many people just make cato and clove too soft and sappy and it's SO hard to find good clato fics that really get how callous they can be. this one did it so perfectly and captured their dynamic so well. favorited!

This is truly amazing. There are some spelling/punctuation mistakes, though. It's still AMAZING, so don't worry!

Ugh, this was honestly just perfect. You're characterization was spot-on, and I particularly enjoyed Cato's viciousness. The ending was unexpectedly touching, and yet I felt it fit in quite well with the story. Overall, a truly fantastic story!

i really, really enjoyed this! I like how cato and clove are kind of together, but it's not all sappy and romance-y, it's rough and not very serious, and it just seems to fit them exactly.
