I loved Erich stammering that he wasn't good with people and Devyn replying "they aren't people, they're baby Heralds." And a Blue who spends most of her time with the Grays ... as Calisa pointed out, Heralds have been Chosen older than her. And while most Heralds have one or more Gifts, Lackey herself has said that not all Heralds are Gifted. Some are chosen for skills.
