I like how you've confronted the issue of prejudice here. I've never been able to fully like McCoy in new or old Trek because "pointy eared hobgoblin" sounds far too close to "kinky haired ..." Also, I keep wanting to report him for creating a hostile working environment. I think your take on it here is far more balanced though than my accumulated crankiness on the subject.

Jim's remarks at Spocks's funeral have always bothered me. It's nice to know that Spock would have understood. And thanks for the excellent analysis of the famous Spock/McCoy feud. You can write more Star Trek any time!

Gem of a story!

Good one shot story, for all the humour we find in the McCoy/Spock talk they used to exchange, I sometime as myself whats the difference between calling someone a greenblooded hobgoblin, bastard, etc and a black_ or other 18th,19th, 20th century racial insult, not much really.

This is good - I think the arguments that went on between Spock and McCoy tend to polarise people to support one side or the other, so I'm glad you managed to convincingly establish a balance between them while keeping their characters intact.
