Awww, so have they just given up on each other, or will Alex return? And yes, I think the finale DID break the nations hearts - it did mine at any rate. I guess though it was made so obvious (in my opinion at least) that they loved each other that there was no need for declarations... though it would have been nice. You write them very well!

You got me. Very emotional. I know it's how these characters really feel, but there's just not enough time on TV series to show it all. But thanks for this, although of course I'd still like to see Alex, Gene, and Molly all in the same place, and time.

But I'm sorry. Keats was working overtime to make himself look good to Alex. And I just know it's going to take her too long to see.

I can honestly say that this is one of the best songfics I've ever read. So much emotion and all done perfectly.

First off, I love this song! Delighted that somebody did a songfic to it, and you wrote it beautiully. Secondly, yes the episode was amazing, so glad to finally have the Gene Genie back on my screen!

Absolutely heartbreaking. This pictures so well the depth of their connection, and especially how impossible Alex finds the choice between Molly and Gene. The start of Episode 1 last night shows how hard it's becoming for her. This is a grief without resolution. Dammit, you've made me cry...

loving this story and loving the episode. If series 3 doese it with Gene having killed Sam then i will count that as fanfiction which somehow manages to get on TV.

Absolutely beautiful songfic TG to mark the start of the already fantastic final series. You really pitched Alex's desire to be with Gene over her need to be with Molly against Gene's regret perfectly. I utterly adored this line:

"a large hole began tearing itself in her chest and a broken piece of her smashed heart floated out. It flew back in time to Gene and settled itself within him, a piece of her, entrusted to him."
