You capture the relationship between Ironhorse and Debi very well. Ditto the relationship between Suzanne and Debi. It's hard enough to be the mother of a teenager under normal circumstances, harder still to be a single parent. When you're fighting aliens, that makes it much, much worse. Debi reminded me of Harry Potter, with Dumbledore hiding the truth from him because he was too young.
