Lady Siren 4/8/11 . chapter 5
I don't like crossover fanfiction, I usually avoid it like the plague. But for some reason when I saw xmen/criminal minds I was too intrigued to let it go. Emma Frost and Emily Prentiss being my respective favorite characters of each not helping me from saying no.

But I was absolutely bowled over by how much I enjoyed reading the first story and I was giddy to see there was another and another. The dynamics of this pairing and the story you've weaved are amazing. Morbid, real, heart-wrenching, bittersweet, and provocative. So thank you, I think I will be rereading these with fervor.

It's a sign of a great writer to take something so absurd, like crossovers sometimes are, and make them outstanding. You have done a marvelous job!

So this review is for just about all of your stories in this series both here on and on ralst (which is where i actually found this story) Honestly, I'm surprised i found this story, as I'm not usually an xmen or crimanl minds reader. But i just thought i'd check the xmen section just for the fun of it. then to my shock and surprise i saw several stories that where crossed over with Criminal Minds? it was just so shocking to me that i just felt a compulsion to check it out.

that was the worst best mistake i've ever made! I have not been able to stop reading your stories! I'm seriously addicted. It took a TREMENDOUS amount of will power to stop reading and force myself to do some actual homework and studying. Just as i was getting ready to write this i went to your LJ site and saw like 50 more stories i've not yet read. I'm starting to worry about my grades now!

You are that good.

I'm not even sure what else i can say. you have an amazing gift. There are many parts of the story where i have to stop and remind myself in reading fanfiction and not any kind of offical literature. From big char defining things to subtle jokes or actions they do. I was initially worried about JJ as it looked like it could've been going down the road of char bashing. but i just somehow knew that it wasn't and sure enough things worked themselves out. the only char who really seems to have gotten the short stick is cyclops. Though to tell you the truth i didn't really start liking him until Emma came into the picture. what's funny is though i know im reading about Emma and Emily, my mental projector sometimes puts other mental images for them, (especially in Emily's journal, maybe it's the age difference) Even now the pull of your stories me are driving me away from this review.

there were a few times that i found an awkward sentence that either took me a bit to figure out what you meant or i just didn't completely understand. (very rarely) but for example "Emma cringed at the term ‘love bites,’ ‘bite marks’ or ‘hickies’ was perfectly descriptive." i had to read that a couple times before i understood that she prefers that later two words to the former. I'm not saying that sentence is written incorrectly, but it's a readers natural inclination to want to read it as a list of 3. still moments like that were rare. (and since i'm thinking of that line. There is something about the way you've written Jean that is quite interesting. it seems like on one hand she really is a bit off or creepy, but yet if read it another way it just Emma's being Emma and twisting Jeans words/intent.)

anyway Many thanks for writing this series you and this story are most definitely going into my Favorites (i try not to randomly through people in there so that means you're special. ) and now my craving for more of your stories has gotten to strong. I hope you keep writing more of these stories for a long time to come.

Loved this story. And this last chapter was especially good. I cheered when Emma showed up to save the day-best line: "the hero deserves favors". It was great seeing Emma finally throwing off the shackles of her father's and the Hellfire Club's influence. Dialogue was excellent and poignant, and the explanation for the Hellfire Club was thought provoking.

But, but poor Emily and then poor Emma. First one gets dumped then the other-they go through such highs and lows-and I can't help but love you for it. No tidy romantic happy ending for them. Sigh. It's agonizingly good.

Other parts I enjoyed: Ro's cameos, Jean's creepiness, and finding out the Hellfire Club has a website. Wonderful addition to the Diamond Universe.
