Poor Jesse, James, and Meowth, they finally win and have their victory taken away half a second later...then the whole town is destroyed by Ash using Mewtwo...though why he's obedient is beyond me. And now Giovanni has to take them all in...just for curiosity's sake, where did this "Giovanni is Ash's father" theory come from initially?
