Really poignant and emotional. I think it really shows the conflict and suffering that Takeo has to go through and I enjoy the small journey that Shigeko goes through.

It took me a moment there to remember that Shigeko was his eldest daughter. I bought the fourth book, as well as the prequal a long time ago, though I never finished reading them.

I think Takeo is in a very difficult position. If I recall it was prophesised that his own son would kill him, though I read enough of the fourth book to know that the boy wasn't really intent on killing Takeo- he also possessed the ability to see into the afterlife, right? He saw Kenji there...

Great story, though. Awesome vocabulary, good flow to it... though I have to say that perhaps the scientific details were a little out of context in a feudal japanese-style realm. They wouldn't have known about hemorraging etc etc.
