Reviews for: Deutsch Schlaflied (German Lullaby)
blackrising 8/31/10 . chapter 1
I'm sorry, but I can't help but point out that the German is incorrect...

German Lullaby in German is "Deutsches Schlaflied".

My Beloved is, depending on whether the beloved is male or female, "Mein Geliebter" (male) or "Meine Geliebte" (female).

White Rose is "Weiße Rose".

The translation of Flying machine is not really incorrect, but the literal translation would be "Fliegende Maschine".

And now on to the lullaby.

Here's the translation:

Schlaflied, Schlaflied, meine Liebliche

Schließ deine Augen und träum süß

Schlaflied, Schlaflied, meine Liebliche

Schlaf in des Mondlichts silbernem Strom

Hoch oben so langsam vorbeisegelnd

Wandert der Mond über den Himmel

Schlaflied, Schlaflied, meine Liebliche

Schließ deine Augen und träum süß

I tried to translate it as literally as possible.

To Run In The Family is hard to translate into German without making it sound completly dumb, so I think what you have now is as good as it gets...

To Force Back One's Tears is translated okay, but written wrong. It should be "Seine Tränen unterdrücken".

The White Rose: Die weiße Rose

Storm Lantern: I don't even know what that is, but I think you could translate it with Sturmlaterne.

Heimgang doesn't sound very good...but Nach Hause kommen isn't very good either...so it pretty much doesn't matter.

Phew, glad I've gotten all that off my chest. I just figured, y'know, if you use German, use it well. ;)

I liked it, but I would have preferred Helga to still be alive in 1940. That way, all of the gang could still be around by the present time (a little older, perhaps wiser).

Oh gosh that was the best story! Love it! Keep it up! It's so hard to find a good, clean Helga story! That was so good! I give a five star, and if there were any more stars,I'd give it six!
