I agree. I'm not sure if I can really picture Helga putting her family first, but her trust with Dr. Bliss and encouragement from Arnold are her motivations.

I tell ya, Helga really surprised me the way she stood up to them, I can't decide who needs it most. I mean, Bob seldom regards her or calls her by her name, Miriam is too wrapped up her own world, and Olga's acting as if there's nothing wrong in the family and just acts so cheery with Helga.

I think Miriam would listen a little more than the others, but Bob disregards Helga since she's not like Olga, and it's like he can't accept her for who she is since he always encourages Helga to be a clone of Olga. And I'd bet that even though she doesn't say it, Olga would prefer Lila as a sister since they match up so well in personalities: ignoring the problems in their lives and acting as if everything around them is perfect.

But this is great so far! I hope you have ideas to update this eventually.

It kind of surprised me that Arnold would say "Why not her?" given how repulsed he was in "Married," like he never wanted to go out with her. Of course, that was before he knew of Helga's feelings, so it could give him second thoughts.

I love Arnold and Helga's conversation. It's exactly how I envisoned it based on events on what could have happened in the end of TJM and when they came back, just like in our little story! And I do think that Arnold would kiss Helga, but because Gerald interrupted them, they probably didn't get to discuss it all, so they would some time apart after coming home while Arnold catches up and spends time with his parents.

Arnold would encourage Helga to try and make amends with her family, just enough so that she can be happy. But she shouldn't have to put her love life on hold for him. Boyfriends/girlfriends can come and go (not with Arnold!), but family is forever. I think people don't often tend to think of Helga's relationship with her family when they think of her and Arnold getting together in the end of TJM.

I'm very happy to finally read a fanfic where Helga confronts her family about the reality of the situation. I hope you continue this and I really hope to read about Bob, Miriam, and Olga's reactions and thoughts about what Helga told them.

hmm...i like this so far. it's like the episode that we all wished woulda happened. i hope the chapters are longer and more in-depth (visuals, thoughts, feelings, etc.).

Yes, add more! I like the idea of Helga still seeing Dr. Bliss, and having to work at having a somewhat fuctional home life, before officially getting with Arnold. Th echaracters seemed pretty in character (Nice touch with Helga still calling him Árnoldo', but sweetly).
