2 things...

First, as of Generation IV, Pokemon hatch from eggs at level 1, so naturally Cynder would have trouble with pretty much anything, unless she knew Flamethrower from birth (my Cydaquil, Scorch, did).

Second, what in Arceus' name was Cynder's trainer THINKING, sending her against a DEWGONG, which is 40x or more than her level? Seeing as she lost every time, Cynder has NO experience, and as such, is level 1. Kind of stupid, if you ask me.

...otherwise, I see no problems with this story. Just... nothing of this sort, okay? I don't like to imagine a newly-hatched Cyndaquil being obliterated by a Surf or Ice Beam attack.

Dewgon is a water type first, so the dewgon has the type advantage. It really is obvious if you know about pokemon.

really short story but kinda nice.

I see, it didn't get any training against Pokemon it's own level, and as it hasn't been in more than two sorts of battle (the gym one and the last-resort ones, all impossible) the story is completely developed the length it is. I like it.

I wonder if Cynder keeps losing because he didn't have any training. You say his mother was a Cyndaquill, but what is his father?

Ok, so Cynder lost his first battle agsaint a Dewgong, a move that makes his trainer seem like a idoit(are you using Ash as a base for this trainer?),but what about all the other battles in his life? like say for his, I dont know, 10th or 11th battle did he go up agsaint( Yes I know I mispelled that..byte me) a bulbasaur or a Rapidash.

Try adding charater depth to your storys, ok? Ok.

Fire may melt ice, but water quenches fire. Dewgong is part water, not just a pure ice type. Plus, Cynder is like, what, level five? Against a Pokemon some ten times his level? Pit a level 100 Venusaur against a level five Charmander. Who do you think will win?

Okay, apparently I do have to spell it out, since the one person who got it had their review go to another story of mine.

Cynder's first battle was against the seventh gym leader, the second strongest of the Johto gym leaders. At L5, Cynder fought a *dewgong*, whose water type canceled out fire moves and whose water attacks were super-effective. Then his trainer stopped using him unless all his other pokemon had fainted (meaning the pokemon Cynder was sent out to fight was very strong).

So while the trainer wasn't abusive, it's his fault, not Cynder's, that his pokemon is losing.

This is good, and I remember Cynder from Pokemon Revolution, but you need to work on the conclusion - it feels unfinished to me.

Cyndaquil is a cool Pokemon, and so is this short story. Good work.
