Sora Takenouchi 12/9/11 . chapter 1 Uh...well I guess about the dress as much! Hey! The hug should have happened. It would be more...i don't know...cute? But this whole fanfic is great! |
Clarial 10/30/11 . chapter 1Great sorato story! Loved the idea, the writing. Their talk was very convincing and 'stuck to the characters'. Great job! |
 Missng 11/1/10 . chapter 1:D
If that were a substantial review, I would leave it at that, but it is not, so I will add more petty words. :P
An interesting insight into the mind of eight year olds dealing with problems that eight year olds shouldn't have to think about. Heartwarmingly cute and I thank you for writing this. :] |
Ayumi -Night Beauty 9/22/10 . chapter 1oh, this was lovely, great work ) |
Koshi Sekisen 6/9/10 . chapter 1Oh my god, this has got to be the most cute Sora & Yamato ficlet out there that I've read (at least, in a long while!)...!
Do you think you could let me draw it like a doujinshi form? Of course, all the credit would go to you, but I could just *see* it...! |
tripleT.Vo 6/4/10 . chapter 1I'm glad that you posted a link to this on LJ; otherwise, I might have missed it completely. And that would be a shame, because reading this one-shot of yours was a pleasant surprise.
Your Yamato narration voice is very well done. He sounds, thinks, acts, and perceives everything just as a typical eight-year-old boy would. The characterization of both Yamato and Sora deserves praise as well. It would be just like Yamato to brood about how everything in his life seems to have just fallen to pieces, and just like Sora to want to help a complete stranger while fidgeting in her dress.
The advice that Sora gives to out Yamato, that distance won't damage Yamato's relationship with his mother and Takeru while using her own situation as an example, is perfect. One of the best parts of the Yamato/Sora friendship (and relationship in general, but they're still young, here) is that they can listen and really relate to each other so well. Even at the age that they're depicted in here, their ability to empathize with one another is special - and that's without taking into account the fact that Yamato's in a bad mood and Sora's a random girl sticking her nose in his business.
There are so many ways that someone can accidentally tread into fluff territory with a scene like this, but the way you write it makes it seem realistic. It definitely helps that you make many (appreciated) acknowledgments and bridges to the characters' background canon - Toshiko and Hiroaki's conversation about the flowers, Toshiko's aversion to soccer because of its violence (which brings to how Toshiko stopped Sora from playing soccer because of her injury), the aforementioned separate living arrangements of Toshiko and Haruhiko. And even the last bit, when Yamato gives Sora the soccer ball. Obviously, that's a nod to all the Sorato fans, but in itself it's a nice touch to show how maybe Sora's soccer hobby (which has always been a connection that fans have used solely to reference to Taichi, disregarding that Koushiro also played soccer with the both of them) might also be a connecting point between her and Yamato as well.
Anyway. I enjoyed reading this thoroughly. I look forward to reading your eventual fiction pieces exploring the Sorato relationship whenever you decide to upload it. Keep up the great work!
