docmon 10/31/04 . chapter 1what a wonderful look into the struggle and personal costs of walking on the Quest. I liked how you say first that they cannot take the time to hope, love, weep, and yet the speaker walks with them and
"...love[s] them, one and all/ Though love has no place on the quest/ They live by the sword - and gladly pay the toll/ of love/ and of hope/ and of peace."
Wonderful contradiction there. Good sense of timing too.
I picture Frodo as the speaker of this poem, though I know you have left that detail open. Perhaps because he is one who doesn't live by the sword.
great job,
