Where did Rin come from? Why is she on the Ship? You need an explanation as to why Rin is on the Ship.. And there's another mistake I spotted, the Doctor isnt called 'Dr. Stephens, his name is Stephen Maturin!

How on earth did "Rin" end up on the ship? What is her purpose? Dropping an OC into a story at random is a terrible idea. Besides, having a woman onboard a ship was bad luck. This is not getting off to a very good start.

The doctor's name is Dr. Stephen Maturin, not Stephens. And who is Rin? Why is she on the ship? Why is Aubrey letting her tag along? You can't just drop your OC into the story with no explanation for what she's doing there.
