broken-paige 4/5/12 . chapter 1Beautiful, you almost made me cry, really this is just simply beautiful. Loved it |
EchizenRyomaLover 3/26/12 . chapter 1I've read many SuzakuxLelouch fics regarding the Zero Requiem to the point that almost all of them sound the same, but I must say yours is quite the exception. I really like your writing style because it feels very very canon (if SuzakuxLelouch could ever even be considered as canon). You portrayed the characters very well, and that just made this fic such a pleasure to read! I honestly think the anime should have inserted a moment like this, since I don't think Suzaku's and Lelouch's anguish was shown so well. I just KNOW that Suzaku feels this way, even though the anime only hinted at it when he cried underneath Zero's mask.
Still can't get over it. XD
PS: The way you wrote Lelouch's lines just gave me goosebumps. I can imagine him saying them with his exact tone and voice. |
Dust in the Light-Crisi 3/2/12 . chapter 1Such mixed feelings here. As per usual when dealing with a Zero Requiem story. I loved this piece and I've always agreed that Lelouch's death was an extremely elaborate suicide. It's just like the Black Knight Betrayal scene on a grander scale. If he'd have died then, Japan would have been freed(of course, Ragnarock would have happened so it wouldn't have mattered). And he'd have died hated. Dying now means the world is freed and he dies hated. |
immortalvampgoddess 12/27/11 . chapter 1I'm not often fond of fics that are Suzaku-centric, and I think it’s because I find his voice and view somewhat elusive — you think you’ve got him nailed, only to read a story over and find out no, that’s not quite right. You somehow managed to capture both quite well. In fact, there's enough character to keep both boys defined.
As for overall, this entire piece was absolutely lovely-a wistful, sad look at Lelouch's final days. What I loved though was (and I know I said thus before but I'll say it again) is how real Suzaku is. There's a very tangible sense of rage and sorrow for Euphy, the remnants of his friendship with Lelouch, and this idea that his fate has been decided for him. His struggles are beautifully and subtly portrayed.
Yet another thing I love about your writing style is your ability convey a great deal of feeling in few words without going overboard with descriptions. You take thing that are hinted at in canon and connect it with your imagination to create something that makes sense. The fact that Suzaku knows Lelouch so well as a friend and yet, not was beautiful if a little heart-rending. There were certain lines that just grabbed me.
" it's just me and Lelouch, and I think that killing someone has never been so intimate.
I was right. It's like putting a sword through nothingness."
"Like an idiot, he probably didn't expect it to hurt"
"All right, Suzaku," he says, voice cold and bitter and mocking. "What shall we talk about? The grand old times? The Shinjuku ghetto? The Black Rebellion? Maybe the Princess Massacre?"
"I don't think that Lelouch really knows how to be a good friend anymore. But that's Lelouch for you. Saviors work alone, and so do demons.
By the time he dies, there will be nothing left of Lelouch vi Brittania, I am certain."
This piece was understated and all the more powerful for it. I must admit some confusion about the last line though.
Hopefully, you got something coherent out of this review. I tend to ramble and so don't review often but when I saw this piece only had eight reviews(and I really thought it was amazing) I felt obligated to review. |
skepsis66 8/9/11 . chapter 1Complex and tragic and gorgeous. Lelouch is not as impervious to it all as he seems, an impeccable actor as he may be at most times. There's a sort of quiet despair that seems to enshroud Lelouch in his last days, such a contrast to all that ambition and hate and passion. It really does make me want to cry. Suzaku too - the lingering shreds of friendship that tie him so tightly to Lelouch makes his emotions equally heart-wrenching. There's the rage, for Euphie, the desperation and sadness, for Lelouch, and the finality of a destiny already decided, coiling ever tighter around him as he helplessly waits for Lelouch to die. The closing lines of your story are fantastic - I mean, "It's like putting a sword through nothingness.", I think I almost died. The irony too - of saying 'Amen' when neither of them believes in that kind of salvation anyway, when a world without end is something to dread rather than rejoice over. Loved reading this! |
Lambotrist 4/4/11 . chapter 1Oho. I really liked this. Little view into Lelouch's last days. Seemed Almost spot on to what I'd expect from him.
Very well put together. Good grammar and whatnot.
Thanks for writing it. |
songstar13 2/6/11 . chapter 1This story has put me into raptures of alternating despair and joy. I despair, because it reminds me how truly, heroically tragic Lelouch was, and how those two seasons enthralled me like no other anime before or since. I find joy, because it is such a masterfully written piece. I am unworthy! Favorites. Thank you so much. |
 blackash 1/17/11 . chapter 1Wow. Just. Yeah.
That was something else.
I had my heart in my throat. Thank you. |
 Tanda3467 8/20/10 . chapter 1Words can't descride how beautifully you wrote this !
Kudos to u :) |
 Rialaea 8/8/10 . chapter 1Their relationship is delicious. |
aosugiru sora 8/4/10 . chapter 1A brilliant, moving piece, through and through. I like how you perceived their relationship - Suzaku knows Lelouch all to well, yet at the same time, he doesn't. You depicted the thoughts and moments leading up to the event masterfully. It truly was a job well done.

Allora Gale 7/22/10 . chapter 1Amazingly beautiful! I loved this. It was so touching. I always get all teary eyed when Lelouch dies. It's so sad, but I think you'd depicted Susaku's struggle with this very very well. Excellent job! |
