Good story.

It's painful to see and hear Dean trying to be as content as he can in his situation, although who are we to judge Sam's choices. He is doing what he can to keep Dean safe and happy, and isn't it maddening to see them try and continue on without the other.

I've watched the first two episodes of the new season and this still makes perfect sense (assuming this was before Sam met up with his "family" who I trust about as far as I could collectively throw them). So well done you for prophetic powers! It's also a lovely piece of melancholy - well done on that, too.

Uhhh. You're gonna finish this right? I liked this very much obviously.

Well, when I saw the spoilers of the 6th season, I wasn't surprised... I hope the story will surprise me, you know? xDD

Another thing that I hope for is that they don't make Dean completely happy, you know? Like he totally forgot about Sam, cause that would be kind of imposible, right?

Wow, I'd never heard that song before, but I listened to it and it's amazing! And so very fitting for Sam and Dean at the end of Season 5. Great, great work with the story as well, even if it is terribly sad! Very nice job!

Those spoilers are evil. To think Sam might actually let his brother think he's dead all that time. No wonder there'll be some 'changes' to the brothers' relationship. But this was well written and so in character that it worked. So like John to be letting Dean rest in his normal life while checking up on him. Awesome xx

Very sad but excellently written and so much in character for Sam and Dean that it hurt to read. My heart was breaking with the pain both brothers suffered through but kept soldering on for the other. I love reading stories where their unconditional love for each other shines through like this; and still neither has what he needs most.

It breaks my heart that Sam is supposed to have left his grieving brother in the dark about his coming back. Yet I'm sure, as you wrote, he did check on Dean every once in a while, just to make sure he was really okay.

Still, I was sad to read that Sam wasn't able to call Dean himself (especially since he was gravely injured) but had the Father do it for him.

Had Sam died then and there, Dean would never have known (and he surely would have wanted to know THAT), even if it had caused him more grief to "bury" his brother once again. I see what the younger Winchester's reasoning was behind it but I bet that Dean would have wanted to know that his Sammy hadn't been trapped in Hell with Lucifer and Michael for all eternity.

Anyway, all I wish for in the show now is a fabulous and heart-warming reunion in episode one with at least 90 minutes of hugging between the brothers. :-d Well, a girl can dream...

Wow, I really enjoyed this! And man, Dean would KILL Sam for not letting him know that a) he's alive and b) he might be dying. Those boys are so heartbreaking, but they're kind of lovely like that.

Eh... This has only minimally to do with your fic, but I still think it's unconscionable for Sam to let Dean grieve for months on end not knowing he's alive and out of Hell. He knows better than to think Dean could be happy thinking Sam is in Hell for eternity.

OMG, this makes me weep! Sam has to know that, domesticated or not, Dean would HAVE to know his brother is alive and well, no matter what! We know that John and Dean checked on Sam when he was at college, but this is SO different! Dean misses Sam desperately, and he NEEDS to see him!

I too heard the spoilers from Comic Con (I was there but unable to make the SPN panel, sigh)and I really like where you took this story. It's made me even more excited for the premiere.
