I haven't had a television since 2005 and haven't really missed it. But clearly I've been missing out on some great shows if the little I've read, heard and seen about "Torchwood" is any indication. It rattled me to read all about this difficult relationship between these two complicated men but in a good way. Thank you for uploading this story.

This is the first Jack/Ianto fanfic I've ever read and it was breathtaking in its charged emotion, sadness, mounting tension and final resolution.

Wow, I don't even know what to say. I finally got around to reading the second part because no moment of the day seemed perfect enough and then one evening it's windy and cold and I read this and now I have a hole in my chest, the feels are just terrible but the fic is breathtaking. I'm still in awe how amazing this was and how great you are with writing. This is really something, good job.

This was lovely, too. Again I wanted to smack them both, Jack for trying so hard to be strong, and Ianto for trying so hard to be discreet. The bit with the Webley was tough to read. Glad they sorted it and SOOOO happy Ianto decided to leave the mess.

Ok, I was impressed by the third paragraph. Not to brag, but I have an unusually large vocabulary, and 'inenarrable' was a new word to me. Can't tell you how long it has been since fanfic has taught me something new. Thank you for that!

Now, about the story...

"Ianto wanted to retort that they'd thought the SUV would be safe at their campsite..." Odd that a simple line about securing a vehicle would make something in my chest twist, but it is beautifully symbolic of the sense of security and safety that has been ripped away from Ianto.

Absolutely heartbreaking that Ianto can't find solace in coffee.

Is it wrong for me to want to box Ianto's ears for blathering about the camping gear when he really just wants Jack? And I love Jack, and I love that he loves Ianto, and I get that, erm, carnal thoughts are one of Jack's defining characteristics, but I seriously wanted to smack him when he was ogling Ianto's backside when he was helping him get into the shower. Still, since it had a happy ending, I can't get too angry with either of them.
