That was brilliant! I don't think it was OOC and I think the reason you gave for Martha wearing those awful clothes is plausible too. :)

Great characterisations and I love how John realises that Martha needs help, but doesn't realise that he himself needs it.

There were also some lovely witty lines that helped to break the tension a bit, for example:

'Jesus Martha.'

'Jesus has nothing to do with it.' She smiled then, and settled back against the counter.

It made me giggle. :)

And I really liked how they came to kiss, it was so sweet! 3
