I always wondered why Dumbledore never confided in McGonagall. It seems so strange to me that he should leave the knowledge in the hands of 3 teenagers. When you consider what you have put forth it makes slightly more sense. That he would want to leave Hogwarts within her protection without her being distracted.

I felt as though I ought to review this, seeing as we're secretly lovers now.

I really liked it. The writing was solid. I particularly enjoy stories with Minerva and Dumbledore's portrait, because I find that dynamic very interesting - having him there, but decidedly not there... I like when they touch hands. That was well-expressed, and a bit poignant.

A general comment, meant neither positively nor negatively: you characterize Minerva very differently from what I generally have seen/do myself.
