Moon Shadow Magic 9/5/10 . chapter 1Hamlet getting a look- in... Casting Freya as Ophelia suited well; if anyone knows the language of flowers she would. And yes, it sounds as though it were fun to write!
Though I wonder... this was a prompt, of course, but I think this is the second fic I've read that casts Freya as unstable, which is interesting to me because she seems more balanced than most, having an interest outside of school and dance. Come to think of it, raven-Mytho went after normally sane and stable people mostly with relatively mild disturbances: Pique was concerned about him, Freya was flattered, Raetsel (worst case) and Hermia distraught over other things...H'm. |
LuckyLadybug 9/4/10 . chapter 1You know, I think this is the first time I've ever seen it spelled "Signor Mytho."
This is very interesting. Freya (and perhaps Pike) definitely seemed to fall further into the darkness than any other of the victims. I like how you depict things playing out and Freya getting worse, but still teetering back and forth between the darkness and the light.
The way you worked in the violets in the final scene, and having Freya intentionally wanting (and succeeding) to die, was so chilling. Mytho's calm acceptance of her death is the perfect, yet horrifying, last touch. I think the ending bit is my favorite of the piece, as tragic as it is.
(And with my love of any modern indications, I love that Freya is using a stereo.) |
