I NEVER thought I would enjoy a Piccolo/Chi-chi story until this. This is beautiful. Favorited. Loved it.

Damn good start, but I don't think Chi-Chi sees Piccolo as a villain anymore...I think it was right before the Android saga in which she told Goku, Gohan, and Piccolo to take care.

-shrug- Anyways, she still would think he'd be a "Bad Influence", so there wouldn't have been too much difference.

I love it! You did an excellent job of portraying the characters. I could just imagine Chi-Chi's voice and Piccolo's and Gohan's and the entire situation unfold.

Although something just occurred to me... if Namekian males couldn't give birth until Porunga changed Guru's anatomy, then how was Piccolo's father able to asexually reproduce?

Wow. That was just... stupendous. You took an idea that easily could have fallen to fannish excesses and you made it work. You really, really made it work. Even the revelation about female Nameks didn't make me cringe, as you covered all your bases (the explanation for why Guru and his descendants are asexual and male-looking was very clever) and made Piccolo's feelings and desires even more plausible.

I should point out one thing, however. In the first chapter, you have Chi Chi call Piccolo a villain and reference the times he killed Goku and kidnapped Gohan. However, it overlooks something important: the three years Piccolo spent training with Goku and Gohan in preparation for the Androids. In the manga, just before the three head off to fight No. 19 and 20, Chi Chi says, "Gohan, Goku, Piccolo, you all be careful, now!" and offers to pack them lunch. It's a very brief scene (a single panel), but it strongly implies that Chi Chi no longer saw Piccolo as a villainous figure and even cares (at least somewhat) about his wellbeing. Although Piccolo's lunch probably wouldn't have consisted of much more than a bottle of water :P

Still, everything else, including Chi Chi reaction when Piccolo told her he was going to help her raise Gohan, was spot on. A great story with excellent characterization, heart and humor. I was also impressed by how smart it was, too, from the small details (Piccolo struggling to learn how to use a cell phone) to the larger beats (Chi Chi realizing that Goku may have never actually loved her).

Long story short? Great job. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work. Brava, Bucky. Brava.

This story was amazing, it had me hooked from begining to end.

Lord's mercy, your fanfics are so beautiful. Piccolo's line about Goku taking his family away- I wanted to cry. I was so upset and scared when they got the call about Goku. I was seriously going "nononononononono!" in my head.
