It is killing me...what did Bella do to break the two of them up? I can't imagine her cheating. I think Esme knows it's a marriage for her sake...but she is going along with it in hopes they will realize they still love each other. Looking forward to more.

So I have to think Bella cheated on Edward, that would be what he meant by betrayal or else she was pregnant and didn't tell him then lost the bay when did something reckless or stupid.

I'm glad you all took the time away that you needed, but I'm also glad you are posting this story again! I was hooked with the first two chapters months ago. I've just reread them and the third chapter and as hooked as ever. I'll keep the story and you on alert. However long it takes to deal with real life and post a story is fine. It'll be worth it in the end!

OK, that kiss was very interesting-was Edward trying to dominate Bella, since she'd just told him and his money to fuck off? If so, that's only a few steps removed from a rapist's mentality. Obviously, it had an unexpected effect on him.

Esme's story of toddler Edward taking care of baby Bella was very sweet, and I'm assuming she's correct that he's always loved her and always will. He hates her so much, obviously his feelings toward her are very strong still. Indifference is the opposite of love, not hate.

I wonder if Jake got into the picture after Edward went off to college. I hope not! But he obviously feels she lied to and betrayed him, so it had to be something pretty serious. Looking forward to more!

Poor Esme. I figured she was dying, but it's hard to take. My mother in law died of pancreatic cancer last year. It's a bad way to go. I just have trouble with Edward being so bitter and cold toward Bella. And purposely rude and dismissive. They're going to have to pretend better if anyone is going to believe they're together. I can hardly fathom that Esme bought it.
