It's an encounter I've never even imagined before, not between these two people and the topic of conversation. I do like the vulnerability in the characterization of both women, but especially Sumeragi; hers is a more obvious vulnerability. But Marie, too, has that quality in her fragile, delicate prayer of gratitude.

That... Was... Amazing.

This is an interesting addition to the spiritual dialog running beneath the show, especially in contrast to Setsuna's atheism. Marie's presence on the ship comes off a bit out of place, and Sumeragi seems to feel out of place in season 2, so this is a great snapshot between them that builds on both of their struggles to find where (or whether, in Sumeragi's case) they belong.
