ZeraPotterWeasley 2009-11-07 . chapter 64...wow...I nearly lost hope for Lord of the Rings when I started browsing the fanfiction...
Thank you for renewing my faith and entertaining me at the same time! Now I'm off to read OFUM 2! |
restinpace 2009-10-13 . chapter 64This fic is totally AWESOME! And to think, you spawned a whole bunch of different Universities. That is really something to be proud of doing! Great job! I laughed my butt off! |
mejg 2009-09-21 . chapter 63Uh, my review of the Epilogue was accidentally submitted before I finished. So, where was I... Oh yes, the witty and oh so amusing finale to the review: Legolas-Lusters all the way *smiley face with tongue sticking out*... haha that just reminded me of the bit where Legless (misspellt on purpose!) says "*wink nudge wink*" Hahaha. Okay, that's me done with my babbling. |
mejg 2009-09-21 . chapter 64NO, I didn't want this to end! Yep, my dream world, deffo. I mean, I'd keep the painful experiences out, but otherwise... oh, and the funniest thing is that some, lets say IMAGES from the story sort of pop up in one's (at least mine) head at the most random times, e.g. halfway through a chemistry experiment (... honestly, did you HAVE to put in that bit with 'Gimli' and 'on a table' in one sentence? :P)- I almost LOLed in a lesson. Like really OUT LOUD.
Also, (seen as this was a long story a lengthy review seems called for) the Headmaster being who he is is ... just DEEP. It's so beautiful that he gets to live in the world he created and it's like he approves of fanfiction - since he's Headmaster of OFUM. Nice.
And the Morgoth/Sauron feud is the funniest thing. I'd go for Morgoth b/c Morgoth never worked for Sauron, whereas Sauron sort of made a name for himself as Morgoth's side-kick. That's my POV.
Anyway, thanks for 2 long evenings of Lotr FF extraordinaire (even if it is a story that's ... =O 7 years old!) and ... Legolas- |
mejg 2009-09-19 . chapter 3OMG this is like my dream world! Great, after this my school will seem even duller than it already is. Uh. ;P |
Araloth the Random 2009-09-06 . chapter 64It's been ages and ages since I read this and I thought I might come back to review. Everything about this fic makes me crack up laughing, no matter how many times I read it. The flirty Witch-Wall, Breadlegs, a Gimli romance, Sauron and Morgoth's constant fights, the colour urple. . . You've made fanfiction history with this! Kudos to you! :)

The Buzz 2009-07-06 . chapter 64This is absolutely wonderful. |
Sectimsempra 2009-03-31 . chapter 54 A new mini was created in this chapter. Boromir is not spelled withan 'a'. |
Lessa A. Katsmire 2009-03-21 . chapter 1I haven't been back to in YEARS and this was one of my first stops back. My best friends and I bonded over LOTR and this particular fic brought back fond memories, for we developed many inside jokes from it... particularly the touchy subject of the color "urple". :) Thank you for sharing your genius with us! |
Erroneously 2009-03-12 . chapter 64I loved your story - great job XD |
MusicalSoul 2009-03-02 . chapter 63My other review was cut in half. -_- Oh, joy. Anyways, what I wanted to say was that your writing is incredibly witty and capable of making someone choke on her food while she's reading this awesome piece of fiction. I'd often read this out loud, and seeing as almost my entire family are Tolkien fans, we all would laugh very much. XD
So, all in all, THANK YOU! :) Thank you for having this idea, and thank you for making it so special. :]

MusicalSoul 2009-03-02 . chapter 64Have you understood that we use quotes from OFUM almost daily? XD It's extremely amazing. I've read the continuation as well, and I've got to say that the Sauron/Morgoth fights and the dialogue that is exchanged between them (along with the fireballs, of course), is some of the best one liners ever put down on paper...er...screen? |
Expecting Rain 2009-02-27 . chapter 64So, I read this several years ago, and then I found it again a few days ago and I've been reading it ever since. You're hilarious and this is an amazing story! |
Rebecca Cunningham 2009-02-07 . chapter 64I've read this wonderful story before I join and I enjoyed thoroughly. Thanks. |
Nadramon 2009-01-29 . chapter 64It's a very old story, but apparently you're still alive and kicking on ffnet. Impressive. ;) Just so you know, people are still reading OFUM and laughing their ** off at the accuracy of it all.
I was never one to write nor read anything about "Lord of the Rings" (besides the books themselves) but this school would definitely be useful to ANY fanficer. XD Even though you were helped out, it's still amazing that you managed to point out so many flaws in fanfictions AND find ways to teach fanficers why they're wrong, while making the whole situation incredibly funny. Gotta love the mini-Balrogs. ^_^
Plus, for an OC, Lina's an interesting character, mainly thanks to her cynism. I have to say, pairing her up with Gimli was a brilliant idea! (I wouldn't know whether he's 'hot' or not, but he's definitely a loveable character.)
There's still one thing this story failed to teach the students about: anachronism. I suppose it was an inevitable consequence of making the staff discover this twisted world of us: they had to try out the best parts of it, namely DVDs and polaroids. XD (And leather pants... How in the world were they convinced to put THAT on after having read fanfiction? O_O) And here comes another amazing thing about this story: how to make the lulz just weird enough to be hilarious without ending up boring in 64 chapters.
So, I think I just found the Second God of fanfiction. Which would be a Goddess, no surprise there... The First God is of course squirrelking, the one and only who manages to write fanfictions which are SO bad they're actually good. To the point of having them adaptated into movies. (Do check out "Full Life Consequences" if you haven't yet.)
You, on the other hand, are a specialist, and obviously have already learnt everything there's to know about fanfictions. (Miss Cam looks almost too real to be an OC or even a self-insert. Congratulations!) Still, a Third God seems to be missing... If you ever find the Opposite of squirrelking, do call me.
But I'm rambling there. So I'd better end this monster of a review here with a final congratulation for finishing this wonderful story this quickly, and keeping writing for this long. I might take a look at your other stories sometimes. (By the way, a friend recommended this one to me. My thanks to her, it was SO worth it! ^^)
And good luck with your other stories! |
