OMG! My heart cries for Jack :'( Torchwood will remember him as a traitor. Sad, so sad! Ahhhhhhhhh!

hey... i was just re-reading this, and i noticed... yeah, you DID write it so the reader can't really tell of jack is faking or not. though still, i think most readers would need a bit more of a push to believe it. something like jack contemplating 'the deal' (while not revealing what it is), and his having agreed to it. and maybe, like i mentioned before, something about him not being able to fake it just to double-cross the master. i dunno, but something that really sells it.

I just read the entire story up to this point and wanted to say a big thank you! It is a brilliant story and really well written. You've managed to describe Jack's dilemma so well. Now, I'll just go read the next story to see how you manage to untangle the mess.

i haven't been able to get my fix of this story for the past 3 days, but i'm glad i waited. another smashing, adrenaline-pumping ending, there! not good for reading just before going to sleep.

the rest of this is gonna contain SPOILERS. for those reading reviews before the story.

anyway...

i didn't think saxon was going to get his way with his video. i didn't think the rebels were gonna win. yeah, i dunno, i guess i was thinking the story went on to 25 chapters or something. so... wow. that was fun!

and, my brain has already been playing with ideas concerning part two. now you done got rid of tish, oooh, you evil person you!

oh... and OF COURSE, the effing doctor just bails on jack. AGAIN! oh come on! i know you're mad at him for that, but it's fan-fic, shouldn't you fix that? LOL! no, okay, that's cool, too. :)

oh, and i have to say... i did really laugh at the harry potter movie jab. of course, just earlier today, i was browsing the torchwood crossovers and you know theres a lot of torchwood/harry potter ones. so... yeah. lol!

this was a really good set. great variety.

i have to say, i don't know if this is just me... but calling *that* room 'jack's room' is really #$*%&ed up. that's just so wrong.

anyway, really loved the chapter with ianto (12). talk about pressing all my pathos buttons. fear and dread, then realization and guilt, and abject horror. saxon having jack torture and humiliate himself, now that was the epitome.

then the end was so sweet, i even forgot to worry about it getting worse, later. well, except once.

i was gonna say, i don't know if i would share jack's pessimism about ianto returning to hating him. it would seem to me, if he could understand once he knew the whole situation, then he would return to that understanding once he remembered (or was re-introduced) to that information.

on the other hand, i was just now looking at the end of chapter 15, and was suddenly reminded of mitchell in 'being human.' there's a point he gets to where he's screwed. he just can't come back from that, he can't justify or make up for what he's done. now i see jack approaching this point - or hell, crossing it. i mean... there has to be a point beyond which the people being protected would have decided to suffer and die rather than let these things go on. where they would have preferred jack tell saxon to stuff it and kill them. but... even so, there's no real way jack could escape.

(Jack) His nightmares were no longer only of being tortured, but also of being the torturer, his hands awash with blood.

Bloodsong: "Great! I no longer have guilt!"

;) no, seriously, what a horrificially beautiful turn of events.

ps: looking forward to the plots against saxon. yeah, well, i have a special affinity for the underdogs.

now you have me messed up. any time jack gets some peace or something goes right for him, i start dreading something even worse is going to happen! dangit! (yes, you know i love it!)

i'm enjoying the many and varied subtle torments you have going on; the different stresses and situations with tish, the TW gang, and the doctor. and oh yes, the sweet pang of betrayal. i love that. sorta like a serrated knife to the gut.

i'm also wondering a bit what the doctor is thinking. i know you're a little biased against him - that's cool. but jack being a conman could go both ways. of course, conmen can seem like the nicest, sweetest guys in the world and still screw your whole life over to get what they want. but, on the other hand, what conmen are good at is fooling people. perhaps he's pulling one big con over on saxon.

interesting, his reaction to finding jack's pheromones on saxon. no, i'm going to reserve judgement on that one...

i'm only going to read 5 chapters at a time. and definitely not before trying to sleep. (perhaps when i try to wake up.)

this doesn't take long to get into things and start pressing my HATE buttons towards saxon. very nice. well, evil actually, but you know what i mean!

you also make it soooo difficult to stick to my 'diet,' since you keep ending chapters on little 'cliffhangers' and such. segues into the next part.

i'm anticipating what will be going on with the torchwood team. as well as, of course, the doctor and martha's family. this is gonna be GOOD! (well, evil, but you KNOW what i mean!)

Oh...My...God.

This is possibly one of the best stories I have read. Ever.

It's incredibly powerful and moving, so dark and hopeless and heartbreaking.

From where you leave it, its so sobering and my heart aches for Jack.

Off to read the sequel now, hoping against hope that Jack is able to convince team and Ianto of everything that he did for them.

Not a tear, not even a glimmer of one, for the entire first 11 1/2 chapters, and now, with just the last few paragraphs here, you have me weeping like a baby. Feeling Jack's relief, his knowing that Ianto loves him, and that he was able to tell Ianto the same, that's been the cruelest torture of all, at least for me. The rest I can pretend isn't real, but this bit? Way too, too, TOO real.

Really good fic. Well written. Poor Jack.
