Wow... that was incredible. Really gets to you. I don't understand why it's separated with the numbers though. Oh well. The saddest thing of all is that it's not so unlikely.

Some may say that you should de-politisize this story. Don't. You have a wonderful message, and a wonderfully conveyed message at that. Your work also seems eerily prescient, considering the climate in the United States, with Iraq and North Korea.

Good story. I liked it. The way it it was written without the narrator being stated made it different. The rowll gave it away as Upchuck/Charles though.
As far as other stories you've written...got a second part to It Took a Little Time anywhere? I've checked Daria's Rubber Room and still only see the first part. I'm a shipper and really want to read the next part.

This was very good, but does daria die, i didn't get that, hmmh, good though

hmmmm, nice... i must say that as a person who has changed faces many times over since high school, i don't see anything out of character here, no matter what others say. people change. Daria is idealistic, charles is a romantic (oh, don't shoot me down over this, he's just a poor misguided fool in high school, we all were/are) i thought the story bittersweet. it makes a refreshing change from all the daria'trent/tom/random male or female character including marysues' get married, have kids and get on well with everyone and everything is roses.

i like the idea of daria blazing her own path, and learning rhetoric in university, and perhaps finding the charisma to set peoples' hearts and minds afire. i like the idea that charles learns, slowly and carefully over time, the value of caution and patience. yes i can see this being an alternate life for them. we aren't going to get one from Glenn co, so if we make up our own, why not have them interesting and diverse and, above all, real? it has been a long time since i have been tempted back to reading fanfiction, and this story has encouraged me to find more. I can say with honesty that i truly wasn't expecting this quality, and have been quite pleasantly surprised. well done, kermie'd.

O.o Do I see the signs of Upchuck? Neato fic, though frankly, I don't see DAria being all that active. She seems to me to be more the type to sit there and smirk/shake her head in mild dismay as humanity kicks it into 3rd gear on the bus to hell.

Yep, you got me. The story is from the POV of 'upchuck'. I never meant to make it a mystery, but as I was editing it (apparently not very well) I realised I hadn't specified that it was actually him. Sorry, I'm one of those people who thinks he's basically nice, but messed up.

Highly interesting, well-written (save for a few minor errors heels, not heals...), quite unlike anything else I've read here. Somehow, even in this truncated-political-short-story, Daria retains something of her Daria-ness. High marks. Will you write more?
