It's been years now, and you probably won't even get that review, but, what the heck! I loved this story and all the others, and I actually printed them and made them into a book with illustrations by Kasiopeja. And my friends loved them too. So, it's just to say - THANK YOU! You've been brilliant!

Thank you for the story. It was amazing, it didn't seem like fanfic story, but a real one. I was truly engrossed by it and could stop reading only when the sleep overcame me or work demanded of me.
Thank you for creating and sharing this story with us.
I wonder what you're doing now, as the story was written many years ago. Do you still write sometimes? I would like to read you stories, I promise not to hurry you to update them fast.:)

You've made me cry with their farewell scene.
It was very emotional and moving.

I simply love this line:
"Maybe. But to all of you, he's simply Aragorn's steward, Denethor's son, Gondor's soldier - always second to someone or something." Merry lifted streaming, furious eyes to Gandalf's face. "Not to me, Gandalf. He may not be a king, but he's the greatest man I know, and my friend, and he's not second to anyone."
Boromir was one of my favourite heroes in the LofR. Reading your story brings me great enjoyment.
Btw, I like Bernard Cornwell's novels about Richard Sharpe, too.:)

Reviewing here because I've already reviewed chapter 19...

So... it's been nearly six years since I first read this, and probably about four since I've watched the LotR movies. I'm in the midst of arranging a marathon with a couple of friends now; hopefully we'll manage it next week.

I want to say, again, how much I love this story. I'm writing after reading chapter 18 actually, so I'm still choked with tears over Merry and Boromir's parting. I know I'll probably weep even more after reading the prologue, so I should probably review now, while I'm still haflway articulate.

This story has everything. Drama, suspense, a bit of character torture, intrigue, the joys of friendship and the sorrow of war and deat, and so much passion that I've been reading it feverishly for the past two days, snatching any possible second of computer-time I could. It's my favorite LotR fic ever, and out of, say, four favorite fics of any fandom, my most favorite of all. It's one of those that I can always come back and reread (the next time will be the fourth, I think) and sink into the world that revolves around Boromir. I've really grown to love him since reading this story.

I can't really remember - 'The Steward's Tale' isn't finished yet, is it? I'll reread it (for the second time, I think) again after finishing this. I love both the plot and your writing style.

I... can't really think of anything else to say. It's been so long since I've written anything full-length (I specialize in drabbles now) but I remember how hard it is to commit to a story of this size. You've done the characters justice, and I believe every person who's read this has loved every word of it.

All the best,
Nini.

There is no way I can truly express how beautifully you had spun this tale. It is both captivating and inspiring. Bravo!

I know you wrote this story several years ago but I only chanced upon it today. I am speechless, I have so enjoyed this incredible work of fiction. Wept with Boromir and Aragon for their sufferings. Rejoiced in their triumphs and been moved by the depth of understanding you have woven into this story of love triumphant.

Many thanks for a perfect and beguiling tale.

while i understand not having another steward, i don't understand why the princedom reverted back to the throne. or why aragorn discussed the continuation of the stewardship with faramir and not with caladmir who i would assume to be boromir's heir.

Aww love this story. I loved the way you made it all fit in with canon even though it was AU. I liked the relationship between Merry and Boromir.

I think my favourite part was when he was torturing Aragorn. I love Aragorn torture in all shapes and forms, it rules!

Keep writing!<

This was a beautiful story. I normally don't like how AU Boromir lives stories are written, even though I wish he had lived! I am happy to say that your story captured both Boromir and Aragorn's characterization perfectly, without fear of slash or becoming OoC. Gil is a beautiful OC as well and I look forward to seeing more interaction between Boromir and Gil in your sequel. Happy Writing!

I have no idea how to begin, so I'll start with the beginning.

It made me quite nervous, to be frank, after several drastically out of character afterwards. You kept to more typical forms of manipulations, all very well done, and kept every last action and thought well in-character. Your Boromir is noble, not just angst-ridden, and more proud than evil. Aragorn and Merry and Frodo and all the others were wonderful to read again- like the original, but much easier on the mind. (I do like Tolkien, but I couldn't have read this much of his writing in under twenty-four hours.)

I was quite impressed that you snuck Miss Gil in and made her fit. She was a back part of the story. She's believable, complex, and fits quite well with a canon character. She's a very enjoyable anomaly.

I feel like this review is rambling all around the point, so I'll state it more clearly.

I loved reading this fic. I read it in several installments over a long day, and finished at nearly one in the morning. The action, interaction, politics-- everything.

You broke convention. This didn't turn into a slash-fest. You kept to Tolkien's original premise, that extraordinary events make people bond in extraordinary ways. You blinded a main character, and never created some magical cure. You let everything end naturally.

Some stories are well worth staying up late for, and for re-reading. This makes me want to drag out my copies of the books again. Thank you for writing this.

I only discovered this story today on a friend's favorite stories list. I began to read about 10am and it's now almost 5pm and I didn't stop once I started. It just sucked me into the story and I was so caught up in it that when it ended, I was startled to find myself back in my livingroom with the noise of young kids and the cartoon network rattling my senses.

You took me to walk in Boromir's footsteps and I loved every single step of the way. I cried, I laughed, I cringed, I cheered, a whole gamut of feelings as the events unfolded.

Wonderful, wonderful tale! Going on my favorites and I'm going to look at your other stories now. :)

This is an excellent beginning! I'm already intrigued, and your writing is nice and fluent; it flows. You also captured both characters very well and it's nice to see that Boromir's still alive! Great job!
