Reviews for: All The Queen's Horses
Jessiah Eberlin 7/26/04 . chapter 1
I'm on a some-what reviewing-spree, so I thought I'd check up somemore on stories concerning Mason Eckhart. I have to say that this is perhaps the best fanfiction in the Mutant X archives. You have Eckhart's mind detailed to the very "T". Incredibly written and even though I rarely deal in romance stories, this one is high on my least of "best reads".
Ruffyan 1/7/03 . chapter 12
Beautifully written. So intricately woven together. I love stories filling in the mysterious 'Past' of Eckhart and Adam... loved your story.
Ruffyan 1/7/03 . chapter 3
Ah, this is sooo GOOD. I loved horses when I was a kid. Putting horses and MutantX together...what a concept. I'm in heaven now. I'm going to read the rest of it and review later.

This is very good. Nice to see someone working with Eckhart - haven't seen many with him as a major character before. Keep on writing!

Okay, another wow. And repeated demands for sequels. Preferably with some hope of the poor bloke getting to smile one of these days...

Wow. Congratulations, you've finished it! It's been a wonderful experience to watch this story unfold. I read the final words with a sense of satisfaction and promptly read the entire thing over again. Eckhart's perspective in cpt 11 is particularly well-done, in my opinion. The use of parentheses was very revealing and in good character - very interesting and clever use of voice!

Chapter 12 was also very revealing. The closure of the letter was great, while still leaving the reader wondering what happens next. (Please, I want to know! :) And I especially liked the depth of motivation that Angelique reveals in the letter. But Mason's motivations are still cloudy, even though his decision to revive her in the previous chapter is as effective a statement of feeling as I can imagine. That was a good scene.

But a sequel - boy, that could be a huge challenge. It seems as though you're setting the stage for a crisis in Mason's health. The romantic in me would love to see further exploration of their relationship. But it seems that you're toying with the idea of sacrifice, which *can* be something quite different from romantic love. Or not, depending. That's kind of an interesting thought - are either emotionally open enough to pursue a romantic relationship? They have depended on each other for other needs, but as stands, how vulnerable are they able to be? Is a sacrifice all that Mason would be able to accept from Angelique? Can she express it in any other way?

Just a few thoughts, sorry if they're a bit disjunct. I do hope that you'll continue in this fandom, although my wish is for purely selfish reasons - I miss the anticipation of a new chapter! Thanks for your effort and willingness to share the creativity with us.

I like the way this story is going. Please continue! Oh, and any type of sequel sounds interesting. _
Sllea 3/21/02 . chapter 9
Wow. The last two paragraphs of this chapter are pretty incredible. I think that you've answered the question of what Eckhart would be like in love - or his version of it, which is rather intense. Well, perhaps that's not accurate, and "possesive" should be substituted for "love," but with his character, I think that one would be a large part of the other. I haven't seen that many episodes of Mutant X, and I didn't know that Eckhart had a wife, or that he was a father. It makes me wonder what sort of feelings that he's capable of.

As to your ideas about sequels - well, first, I have to confess ignorance about Eckhart's condition. I had assumed that he was a mutant, but I didn't realize it was more than that. Hmm, interesting ideas. Of course, you could combine them - Angel's attempt to solve his condition brings on his amnesia - but, well, I personally don't really like sacrifice stories, character death, that sort of thing. Totally a personal thing with me - I've seen stories written very well on this theme, but I hate getting attached to a character and having them heroically die! :(

You know, if you'd like more opinions about this story or future stories, you might want to consider joining a fanfic group on Yahoo! - there are a couple that are really good about giving feedback and ideas, although they take the idea of constructive criticism very seriously. The Glass Onion is definitely my favorite; you kind find their archive at .org/glassonion/ to give you an idea of what they're about.

Okay, don't really understand the French part, but otherwise, I'm loving this! Especially all about the horses, 'cause I used to live next to a field full of 'em. _ Love horses.

Really enjoying the thoughtful consideration of Adam and Eckhart here! The shades of gray are interesting in a way the show doesn't always explore. I like the challenge between Shalimar and Angel as well...so true to character!

I like it. Please continue soon.
Sllea 3/18/02 . chapter 5
Great new chapter! I'm sorry that no one has really been reviewing this - I think that it's a good story with a really interesting new character. The revelation of Angel's abilities is intruiging, especially since we don't yet know how she got them. Is it possible that she made her own mutation? It probably would come in handy for someone involved with large animals. Maybe an outgrowth of her work with the horses, even? I think that it would be neat if she had designed it herself, but there's a number of other explanations.

Her relationship with Mason is also very interesting, and I'm really curious as to what he's going to do after seeing the videos.

One question - if it is news footage that Adam and Jesse are watching, does that mean Angel is about to be exposed on national television?
crylittlesister 3/13/02 . chapter 2
Continue, please?
Sllea 3/13/02 . chapter 1
Neat beginning! I wish that I had the stables too - I'd settle for Dancer. :) I was wondering why a scientists/geneticist would retire to have more time with her horses until the genetic work came up. And I definitely liked the work with children from abusive homes.

But I'm left wondering - is Angel Good ... or Bad? And why did she cut off all contact? Why invite Mason - for revenge against Adam? I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next! Great writing, and very knowledgeably about horses. BTW, is Angelique French-Canadian?
