I thought that this drabble was wonderful as, through the conflict, it showed the spark of humanity that ultimately guided the characters forward towards the rebirth of civilisation. Your characterisation of Adelle was very good, as I could imagine her having the self-restraint to ask to be abandoned, and so I found it doubly moving that she wasn't.

Well done for putting so much meaning into so few words - it was very well written.
