Great story! So I absolutely love that whole section about the classic books. It was spot-on to my life. And I love that you mentioned Villette, because no one has ever heard of it and it definitely has parallels with this situation. And it just made me think: Why do people think Hermione/Serverus is so odd and yet no one has any issues with Jo March/Professor Bhaer?

This elegant little trilogy is a piece of fanfic that I like to return to time and again. I very much enjoy how Hermione expresses her love of books and is not ashamed of her sensebilities.

The underlying theme of loneliness and how people live with it (surrounded by other people no less) resonates with me and I'm sure with many readers.

This was delightful. I love all the literay references, especially to North and South, which is one of my favourite books, too.

I love your story ... partly because I love North and South ... the book, and the BBC miniseries ... and partly because I am very much like the Hermione in your story. I almost feel like I'm losing a close friends when a story or a series is finally finished.

I am remiss in the fact that I haven't reviewed this sooner. I'd had surgery the day before this was published, and well, I was in a world of illusion myself when I read it, thanks to those wonderful Muggle drugs! However, I really enjoyed this, and I completely understand the idea of inhabiting a book, even a short story. When I'm done with something I've truly loved, I honestly feel a bit bereft, like I've had to part ways with a friend. In any case, this was brilliant, and the sequel! Well, I'll head on over to review that.

Beautiful portrayal of two bibliophiles and the reality of those who not only "read a bloody book, but have to inhabit it too". Not to mention a fairly downright accurate- and still respectful- evaluation of teaching, and teachers. Even in less isolated areas than Hogwarts, teachers sort of end up in "self-imposed exile" with the way teaching consumes their lives, and its always great to be tactful when bringing up someone else's teaching strategies... :P

Also, Hermione's poignant realization that her love for living out her books is rooted in the subconscious understanding that she's chosen a different reality and path is wonderfully written.

All in all, this was a superb piece.
