Reviews for: A Happy New Year
Dine89 1/4/11 . chapter 1
Happy New Year hon! Thank you so much for writing this wonderful and sweet oneshot, it’s amazing!

Oh I love the idea of Lindsay and Danny throwing a party for New Years Eve, it’s amazing. And it’s wonderful to see how close Danny, Lindsay and their co-workers are, they are like a big family. Like I said already after their Christmas party, it totally fits to Lindsay to plan such a party and celebrate together, she loves that. She definitely is the mom of the lad. LOL. But before their guests arrive, Lindsay and Danny use quiet moment to talk and to review the past year, while little Lucy is playing happily with her dolls.

“Looks like someone's deep in his thoughts,” she said as she approached him.”-“Yeah, it's the time of the year when you're thinking a lot.” Gently, he pulled her in front of him. He wrapped his arms around her waist from behind and snuggled into him. Together, they enjoyed the view for a couple of moments before she spoke again.“That was a stressful year,” she said. He nodded. “It was. But it was also a good year.”-“Indeed,” she agreed. “We bought this house. Stella came back home. Your brother was released from prison. A lot of good things, that's true. And your back doesn't bother you anymore either.”-“Exactly.” Danny was quiet for another moment. “You know what? I love New Year's Eve. I love when a new year starts.”-“Yeah, you can just leave things that bothered you behind,” Lindsay answered. “That's true,” Danny said. “For example with Shane Casey. And with my bad back. That happened so many months ago. We can just say 'okay, it happened last year, let's move on and leave it behind us'.”-“And it gives you the chance to plan on a lot of nice new things,” Lindsay added. “Do you remember the New Year's Eve before I got pregnant with Lucy? We had no idea what was awaiting us. We didn't know how badly our relationship would turn out, but we also had no idea that just a few months later, we'd find out that we're expecting a baby. And that we'd get married shortly after that. There's a lot we're actually planning on already.”-“You mean like having another baby?”

YAY! That’s exactly what he means. And I want that as well, you know how much I love the image of Lindsay being pregnant. But Danny’s wish to have another baby shows again, how much he has grown over the years. He never thought hw would get married or have a child, but now that’s all he wishes for, he’s happier than ever before. I love when he says “I already got a lot of what I was wishing for. More than I expected actually. I have a wife, a daughter and a house. What else do I need?”. That’s so sweet, romantic and true. What else does he need? He has a beautiful, loving wife who supports him through good and bad times and loves him the way he is and an adorable daughter who adores him. No wonder he’s so content with his life. He can be proud of his little family.

Aw, the following speeches are truly amazing; they’re sweet, beautiful and so full of love. They’re simply perfect! Once again you can see how close Danny and Lindsay are and how well the know each other. They have no problem with talking honest about their fears and feelings, I really like that. It’s wonderful to hear Lindsay saying that she doesn’t wish for too many things, she simply wants s that Danny stays the way he is. We all know Danny likes to doubt himself or to be too hard with him from time to time, but he really has no reason to. Sure he made some mistakes in the past, but who didn’t? Nobody is perfect. And I agree with Lindsay completely when she says “But I think you don't appreciate yourself enough.” Danny is an amazing friend, a wonderful, loving and caring husband and father. He should be proud of himself, over the years he has grown so much. Now he talks to people about his feelings and doesn’t hide them anymore. He learned to ask for help and knows that it’s okay to need support, he can’t handle everything alone.

Plus he is always there for his friends and his family. I loved how he supported Lindsay after she struggled to handle the fact that she shot Shane Casey. That was a difficult time for her, but thanks to Danny she faced and overcame it. And I can only agree with Lindsay once again “. And as a father? You're amazing as a father”. Absolutely! He would do anything for his baby girl and he’s so good with her. He loves her more than life itself. I really, reall hope Danny will listens to Lindsay and realizes that he’s a wonderful person. He’s not perfect, but he’s damn close to it.

Danny is clearly touched by Lindsay’s speech and also overwhelmed by his feelings. He didn’t expect Lindsay to say something like that I guess. Though he still manages to give Lindsay a wonderful speech himself. LOL. And I knew he was going to say something like that; Lindsay really needs to stop worrying so much. Because Danny is right, she worries all the time. Instead of doing that, she should simply talk to Danny about what’s bothering her. By now she should know that she can tell him everything, she’s not alone, she and Danny are in it together. I know she’s afraid of being a burden for him, but she’s not. Danny wants her to come to him if something is bothering her. He wants that, because he knows she can’t deal with it on her own. Don’t get me wrong Danny knows she’s a tough cookie, but sometimes even strong people like her need support and that’s okay. “ Same with me being in the wheelchair. You tried to sort everything out by yourself and organize things into the tiniest detail. And when you shot Casey, you tried to deal with it all by yourself as well at first. I can understand that you have this wish to control everything. After suffering an experience where you had no control at all, that makes sense to me. But see, we're married now. We're a family. You're not alone with all the responsibility; not for our child, not for our marriage, and also not for your feelings. It's okay to let others help you and it's also okay when you feel like you aren't able to control everything by yourself. Sometimes you have to give some responsibility to others as well. You're such a strong and stunning woman. You always amaze me with how you try to make sure things run smoothly and that everyone can just lean back and enjoy the show. But you also know that it gets too much with the time. I want you to ask for help and not worry all the time. You're not responsible for everything and it's okay to accept support. We all know you're strong. You don't have to prove that to us. And yes, apart from that you should just stay who you are. You're an amazing woman, believe me. “

This is definitely my favorite part of Danny’s speech and he’s right with everything he says. Lindsay is an amazing, strong and independent woman for sure; she’s one of a kind. And it’s always nice to hear that Danny loves and cherish her for that. For him she’s perfect. Danny knows he is lucky to have her in his life, she’s a supportive, caring and loving wife and mom, for her little family she would do anything; just like Danny. See? They are made for each other. Btw, I already know that Lindsay won’t stop worrying so much, she can’t help it. It must be in her genes. ;) I really don’t know what else to say to this part … Like I said, Danny’s and Lindsay’s speeches are simply perfect! There’s nothing left to say. Brilliant job!

Oh and Lindsay even started crying because of Danny’s wonderful words, that’s so awesome. Just like Lindsay, he simply knows what to do and say to make her feel loved. “People always say we have a lot in common,” she said then. “I think they're right. You and I often doubt ourselves, although I think we're really great the way we are. We just have to stop doubting and worrying and just be proud of who we are. As individuals but also as a couple.”-“We're a great family,” he agreed. “And I think together we won't have a problem to work on that stuff.”-“Yeah.” Turning around in his arms, Lindsay glanced up at her husband. “I always knew getting together with you and marrying you was a great decision.” Danny smiled back at her. “Yeah, we complete each other. Maybe it's also good we're so alike in so many things. We understand each other better.”-“Exactly,” she agreed. “And I mean it. Stay the way you are. You're a wonderful man.”-“I understood what you said,” he answered with a wink. “But I hope you listened to me as well. You're a strong and great woman. Just relax a bit.” He chuckled. “And yeah, I'll do the same.”

Aw, I love this part, it’s beautiful. I like how honest Danny and Lindsay talk to each other. That shows once again how close they are and how special and strong their connection is. Plus it’s always nice to see how much both of them have grown over the years. I mean at the beginning of their relationship they never would’ve had a conversation like that. But now that’s nothing new and rare, they learned to open up to each other and share their feelings, I really like that. And it’s so wonderful to hear again and again how much they love and cherish each other. Excellent! But I knew Danny would make a comment about their guest helping them to clean up after the party, he definitely learned his lesson. After the Christmas party it took him hours to clean up the house again. “But now we should get dressed. Our guests will arrive soon.”-“But this time they'll help us to clean up the house,” he replied. She laughed. “I'm not sure you ask your guests to do that.” Who cares? I really could see Danny doing something like that. LOL.

I really love this oneshot; it was the perfect start in a new year. *huge hugs and kisses*

I'm freaking in love with this and ALL of the resolutions that Danny and Lindsay are making in here. Each and every one of them are beautiful and I hope that they do their best to follow them. Because it doesn't hurt a person to ever ask for help, and also I hope that BOTH of them know that there isn't another person out there who thinks that either of them deserve each other. They are two sides of the same coin! I will challenge anyone to say different! :)

I also adore how you have Lindsay bring up his fear about his back, while they both have a hard time dealing with worrying about each other, they don't have to worry on that account...as long as Lindsay continues her massages. LOL! I hope that next year we get to see another story like this from you. Marvelous!
