Lovely! Danny making himself at home in the jungle is something I'd never thought I'd see but this is more than I could have hoped for. He came for love and will stay not only for that but to also help the animals he has come to love! When I hit the part where Lindsay was talking about how Rocky is going to be set free...I knew that Danny would a problem with it. His heart is so big that he loves all of the creatures he has come in contact with, even Brian! :D Her house was made into a home when she decided to stay, and now that Danny is staying, it has become more than a home. Its the place where they learn and love. :)
As for Danny, I can see no regret in him. He is finally where he is supposed to be, by Lindsay's side. :)
Favorite moments
"Home. Freedom. For the first time, he knew exactly what those two words meant. He loved to wake up in the morning, next to his girlfriend. He loved to step out of the house and enjoy the beautiful view. He liked to work and talk with all the other people in this village. Even though they depended on each other so much, he felt free, without all the pressure he had to deal with in the past.
"Nice view, huh?"
With a broad smile, Danny turned around to Lindsay. Once again, he couldn't help but stare at her for a moment. She was a beauty, even if she wore nothing else but a plain top and shorts.
"Now the view is even better," he answered with a wink."
"I still think maybe this break was good because it made us realise how much we want each other." This time, he kissed her onto her forehead. "And keep one thing in mind, okay? I want this. Us. It's all I ever wanted. It's perfect. I won't ever change my mind about that."
"I know," she answered.
And once again, they just stood there in front of each other, eyes locked in an intense glance. There was such a strong bond between them, there were such intense feelings uniting them.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you, too," she replied.
Another few moments, neither of them dared to move, too caught by the wonderful tension between them."
"I think one reason why I love sitting here is because you are suddenly forced to think about who you are. Very often, people define themselves over their money, houses, apartments, cars, careers, amount of friends... But who are they when you take everything away? Who is your boss when you take away his job, his big car, his apartments, his fine clothes? What's left of him then? I don't know it. But I learnt that I'm more than what's written on my business card. You start seeing that there's more great stuff about you than a successful career, tons of friends and loads of money.
Again, you might think I sound like I'm crazy, but I think you'd fit in here perfectly."
Amazing, my friend! This totally captured why its so important to take a breather, to find out who you are is the best thing you can ever do for yourself. Danny is doing more for finding out who he is in the jungle than he could ever do being under the thumb of a boss who treats him horribly! I'm glad that he is going to stay with Lindsay, not only will he expand on who he is...but he has found a love that he doesn't want to let go. After this is done, there is no reason like he said they can go back and visit or even call their friends and family back in the city. :) The sight of paradise is always breathtaking, I'm so glad that Lindsay shared this with Danny.
LMAO, Brian is so cheeky! You know it just hit me...are you writing yourself as the cheeky creature? Rearrange the letters, and we have Brina! LOL, I adore that Danny found his dog tags and the other treasures underneath Rocky's blanket. A very clever monkey! More please!
I could have done without the visual of Lindsay checking the bedding for bugs or snakes, but Danny's expression mirrored mine when I read that. LOL! I love the way he touches her, softly but with a knowing that shows he loves to relearn everything he knows about her. :) I'm glad that they had fun at the bonfire, Danny getting to bond with everyone was awesome! As for him staying there, YAY! I knew he couldn't leave her to the jungle, he'd want to help too.
As for their hike, I can't wait to see the city boy think that walking is like in NYC on the sidewalk when in fact this is going to be like nothing he has ever done before. :D My favorite moment is when Lindsay is explaining how much of a family the whole village has become to her...and now him. It was very insightful and full of meaning. Brava!
"Out here, we need each other. We have to get along."
"That can get pretty exhausting I could imagine," Danny said.
"Oh yeah, that's true," Lindsay agreed. "But believe me, those moments that annoy you are pretty rare. Depending on each other has its advantages. When people here have a problem with each other, they have to sort it out. We can't just ignore each other or work with someone else. Everyone here is needed. People have to sort their problems out. They're a lot more open and honest to each other here. Why? Because it's necessary. You can't just do your own thing out here. We all have to work together, be there for each other and get along. No matter how. We have to find out ways, and somehow it's working perfectly." She paused. "That might sounds like pressure to you, but actually it's not. You don't have to love everyone here, but one thing is for sure; when you really need someone, the whole village is there. It's difficult to explain. You can't just do whatever you want without thinking of the others, yet there are rarely any places on this planet where you can be that free. I hope that makes any sense"
You are so incredibly amazing! Thank you for updating this fic again. You know how much I love it. :D
No wonder Danny expected his boss would fire him, like I said before; he doesn’t like people talking back at him. But Danny did the right thing in my eyes; his boss had no right to call him while he’s on vacation, telling him to come back. And Danny had enough; he didn’t let his boos treat him like shit any longer. And I’m almost one hundred percent sure that Danny was somehow hoping that his boss would fire him. Without a job, Danny has no reason to go back to New York, which means that he has no reason not to move to Peru. Of course Danny isn’t surprised though that Lindsay feels guilty, she always does. LOL. But he really wants to make her realize that she hasn’t do anything with what happened; she didn’t talk to his boss or made him angry. Danny did and he would do it again. So I hope Lindsay will stop blaming herself. And let’s face it; Lindsay knows that the chances that Danny will stay with her in Peru are even higher than before.
But Lindsay isn’t only thinking about what she wants; she noticed that Danny is feeling a lot better than he ever did in New York. He’s relaxed and together with Lindsay, he’s happier than he ever was before. He doesn’t have to worry about work and feels free for the first time in his life. I doubt he wants to miss this feeling ever again. Danny loves Peru; the wilderness, the animals and the people around him. That Danny still feels not so good after reading the email from his boss is normal, nobody would be happy about getting fired. If he decides to go back to New York (he won’t!) it would be hard for him to find a new job, so of course he doesn’t like being fired. But it doesn’t take long until Danny finds a way to distract himself. “Hey little guy,” he said, gently stroking the cat's head. “See? There was no need for all the squealing you did at the beginning.” He sighed. “You know what I don't know? I don't know what I'm supposed to think right now. I mean, this whole situation...it's so odd.” He smiled as the baby jaguar starting purring. “You have it so much easier, you don't even have to hunt your own food yet.”-“The image of that would be funny though,” Lindsay said. Glancing over his shoulder at her, Danny offered a tiny smile. “Yeah, he'd look funny if he tried to approach something a hundred times bigger than him.”
OL. That’s something I would love to see! I love Rocky; I want a baby jaguar all by myself. :D It’s so much fun to see someone like Danny taking care of a small animal; I never thought he would do something like that. But I should have known better, Danny never fails to surprise me. Lindsay though still can only think about Danny losing his job, she just needs to make sure if he’s really okay. “Are you sure you're okay?” she wanted to know. Danny couldn't help but shrug. “I don't know, to tell you the truth,” he answered. “Now that he fired me, I might have major problems with working for another lawyer in New York. Everyone knows him and he'll make sure I won't get employed again after what I did.”-“You didn't do anything bad. It was your right to say what you said,” Lindsay told him. “I know,” he answered. “I know.”-“But you regret it now,” she stated more than she asked. “Like I said, maybe you can change his mind somehow. Maybe if you go back or call him, he'll change his mind.” She moved closer, gently wrapping an arm around his shoulders. “See, you have to think about what you really want. If you want the chance to become a successful lawyer in New York, working for him is good. I know how much you invested into this job and I'm sure your boss knows that and knows it'd be hard to find someone as good as you. If you feel like you have to go back, you should consider it.” … “I know what I want,” he told her then. “I don't want to go back and try to please him so he gives me the job back. Yeah, I had the dream of becoming a good lawyer one day, but I didn't like the job I had.” He shook his head. “I guess I'm shocked right now because of how everything changed within just a couple of weeks. A few weeks ago, I was working my ass off for this man. Now I'm in Peru with you, together with you again, I'm kinda the adoptive Daddy of a baby jaguar, I'm friends with people who I barely know and I lost my old job. Everything's so different. It's a bit overwhelming. But one thing I can tell you for sure. I want to be here with you. I didn't regret what I did.”
And that’s definitely the right thing. His boss is an ass, he didn’t have the right to call Danny while he’s on vacation and it definitely wasn’t okay tell him to come back to New York. I’m proud of Danny that he didn’t let him talk to him like that, Danny deserves so much better. He didn’t become a lawyer to let people stress him out and push him around. But really, why does Lindsay have to start feeling guilty again? Danny already told her that it wasn’t her fault. Like he said, he doesn’t regret his decision, he isn’t really sad about losing his job, he’s just overwhelmed by what’s happening. But I’m sure that he’ll be okay in no time. I mean he’s together with Lindsay, that’s all he wants and needs. And Lindsay couldn’t be happier about that, she is relieved when Danny tells her that he doesn’t regret anything and would do the same again. Lindsay though knows that Danny needs some distraction and already has an idea how she’s going to do that. And it seem that Lindsay’s and Danny’s idea of doing better things than being confused are not the same. LOL “You know what?” Lindsay said then, grabbing his arm as she got up. “Why sit here and waste your time with being confused? There are much better things to do.”-“You mean going to bed early?” Danny asked, not able to resist the smirk that lit his face at the thought. He definitely knew she would be able to distract him from his confusion. Lindsay chuckled. “You and your naughty mind. No, I mean something else. I know this might surprise you, but people here in the village also know how to party.”
Oh I have no doubt that Lindsay and the other people know how to party, you don’t need a bar or club to do so. All that matters is being around your friends, talking, laughing and listening to music. :D And this way Danny will definitely be able to forget what has happened today and to have some fun. So they go outside and join Stella and the other ones sitting around the fireplace. But as soon as Stella sees the expression on Danny’s face she knows that something is bothering him. I’m glad that Lindsay talks to Stella about it, simply because Stella is right with everything she says. “Is everything alright?” Lindsay threw a short glance at Danny, finding him distracted by Sheldon who had said something to him. “His boss emailed him saying he fired him,” she whispered then. “Oh, that's not good,” Stella whispered back. “Did he try to talk to his boss?” Lindsay shook her head. “He said he didn't regret anything and that he doesn't want the job back. I think he's just overwhelmed by it all. He said all he knows for sure right now is that he wants to be together with me.” Stella smiled at her. “I think that says a lot.” She winked at her. “Of course he's overwhelmed by it. You know how things work in the city, especially when a famous lawyer fires you. But deep inside, he knows where he wants to be.” Lindsay nodded. “See, I still don't want to force my wish on him and make him move. I want him to do what he really wants. But he seems to be happy here. Earlier today we were at my favorite clearing, and he enjoyed it so much. I know he would be happy here, but I want him to realize himself, not because of me.”-“Kiddo, you're worrying too much,” Stella told her. “He loves you, and if he loves it here, that's good. Now that he doesn't have the job anymore and doesn't even want it anymore, I think the next logical step is his decision to stay here.”
Amen to that! Stella is a wise woman, Lindsay should simply listen to her and enjoying the evening. And that exactly what she does, she starts talking to Danny, still trying to cheer him up and distract him. It seems that her plan is working; Danny enjoys listening to the music, eating something and just spending some time with Lindsay and his new friends. He finally starts feeling comfortable and Lindsay is relieved about that. She only has one more thing to say. “I know at the moment it's all a bit too much for you,” she told him. “I still think it's important that you know what you want. When I decided to move to this village, I knew it would make me happy. I knew it was the right thing for me to do, and that made me happy. I could now go and tell you what I believe is right for you, but after all only you can decide that. I can imagine it hurt you that your boss fired you. I told you more than once you could go back and talk to him, but you didn't want to. Maybe you're starting to realise that what you had before was not what could have ever made you happy. Just make sure you take your time and choose wisely. A big career isn't always the best for everyone. A project in the middle of the jungle doesn't have to be perfect for you either. I think now that you have no pressure to return in a few weeks, you should just take the time, lean back and think about what you really want to do. Like I said before, the world is big. You can do whatever you'd like to do.”- “I might be confused at the moment,” he answered, wrapping an arm around her shoulders to pull her even closer. “But I think I've never been more convinced by what I want the most.”-“That is what?” Lindsay wanted to know. Danny smiled at her. “You.”
*sigh* Danny knows what a woman wants to hear, that’s for sure. But he doesn’t only say it to make Lindsay happy, he means every word of it. As long as he’s around Lindsay, he’s going to be okay and that’s wonderful. I’m excited to see what’s going to happen next, so keep it up hon!
"I might be confused at the moment," he answered, wrapping an arm around her shoulders to pull her even closer. "But I think I've never been more convinced by what I want the most."
"That is what?" Lindsay wanted to know.
Danny smiled at her. "You."
With that, he kissed her."
Don't even tell me that you are surprised that this is my favorite part! :D Oh I really hate his boss but on the side note I have to say that I adore him for making Danny see what a slimeball he is by firing him just because he wouldn't cut his vacation short. Ha, I think even if the lawyer tries to blackball him, when Danny and Lindsay get back to NYC they will find that there are still opportunities out there for them. :)
Stella's advice was dead on, he may feel the loss of his job but it is clear that being with Lindsay is more important to him that ever. I LOVE that they do get to relax in the jungle with music, friends, fun, and food! The ending was so cool, and romantic! I even adore how Rocky is in here, Danny has come a long way in taking care of him. At first he was afraid but now he seems to be an old hand at taking care of him. More please!
Hi again :) This was a cute chapter! Rocky is so cute! Imagine having a pet jaguar :D Poor Danny, being fired, but I think it is a good thing for him really. I loved the final scene with everyone singing and eating together and I can just picture Mac bringing out his guitar! I'm sure Stella would sing with him :D
Hello :) I'm taking time out from my chapter! I'd meant to review this a few days ago. I really loved seeing Mac and Stella here. They are so loving towards each other and so thoughtful in the way they consider their friends. I liked Stella's thoughts about needing a best friend. It's good to see when both Lindsay and Stella can help each other. And Mac has appeared! Great!
Danny's boss is an A$$! I can't believe he fired him because he wouldn't stop his vacation and come back to work, even though he is staying I hope he contacts someone to get the benefits he deserves! I do love that he is staying, it will be more time for him and Lindsay to get to know one another. :D And more time for Brian to think of new ways to irritate and have fun with Danny, LOL! I love that monkey! It was so cute that scene with Rocky, I was wondering where he could get to when the baby jaguar was confined to the house at this time.
You started this off well with how Stella saw Danny and Lindsay, how they started off friends like her and Mac. That really is the best way to start a relationship, because even if it doesn't work out...hopefully you will still have a friend after the relationship is over. I do love how she was watching them, it seems to be a favored hobby of her and Mac's. LOL! Very cool and want to see more...especially how everyone takes to him staying. I bet there are going to be a lot of relived people because they know how much he means to Lindsay. :D Awesome job!
I love this chapter a lot sweetie. I like that we get to see a little bit more of Stella and Mac and what they think about Danny and Lindsay. Plus Brian and Rocky are back as well which is great; you know how much I love these two. :D
It’s interesting to see how similar Mac’s and Stella’s story is to Danny’s and Lindsay’s. Both couple were living in New York unhappy with their life. So they decided to move to Peru and live their dream. And there all four of them have found what they’ve been looking for, a great job, amazing friends and a wonderful life. In Peru they can be free and life their life without worrying too much. But ever since Stella arrived in this little village she missed having a best friend. Thankfully that changed when Lindsay moves to Peru as well. From the first moment the two women got along really well and build up a close friendship. Today they are best friends and can talk about everything. That means Stella is aware of how much Lindsay missed Danny while she was in Peru. Lindsay though was too shy and stubborn to contact Danny, so Stella is more than happy that Sheldon did that for her. Now Danny was finally in Peru and Lindsay couldn’t be happier. She is together with the love of her life and enjoys every minute of it. Stella obviously loves watching these two; it seems that she does that a lot. LOL. “Are you watching people again?” Mac asked, interrupting her in her thoughts. With a knowing smile, her husband sat down next to her, winking at her. Stella chuckled. “Is it bad that I like to watch how happy my friends are?” Mac shook his head. “Not at all. I know how much you care for your friends.” Stella smiled back at him. “I just want her to be happy like us.”-“I think that's just happening,” Mac answered, nodding ahead of them. Indeed Danny and Lindsay, still standing at the riverbank, were embracing each other, sharing a kiss. It was a sight that caused Stella's smile to widen. “I'm so glad Sheldon emailed him and that he decided to come and visit her,” she said. “I know she wouldn't have done it. She was so convinced he didn't have enough feelings for her.”-“Reminds me of the two of us,” Mac replied with a wink. “Do you remember who long we were pretending to be best friends? For such a long time. It took us ages to realize that we love each other.”
LOL. That really sounds like Danny and Lindsay. But in the end they got together and that’s all that matters. And I agree with Stella, I think being close friends before starting a relationship is not a bad thing, actually it’s a good one. This way you know each other inside and out and know how to make this relationship work. And the same goes for Danny and Lindsay, being apart really opened their eyes and made them realize that they are in love with each other. But Stella nd Mac are also aware of the fact that Danny and Lindsay are living on different continents and that a long distance relationship won’t work. One of them has to move. “Yeah, but I doubt a long distance relationship like that would work,” Mac said. “It's not like they live in different cities. They're living on different continents.”-“One of them has to move.” Stella nodded. “I know how much Lindsay loves being here. But I think she wants to be together with him even more.” She glanced at Mac. “What do you think they'll do?”-“Honestly?” Mac looked back at the couple. “I have the feeling Danny will move.”-“You think?” Stella asked. “He's a city boy, he's a New Yorker through and through.” Mac smiled at her. “I thought we were New Yorkers through and through as well. Now don't forget how long we're here already.”-“So you think he'd do that for her?”
Of course he would! I think once they get to know Danny a little bit better, they will realize that he would everything to be together with Lindsay. He may be a tough city boy but living in New York doesn’t make him happy. Being together with Lindsay does though and so I think it’ll be an easy decision for him to leave it behind and move to Peru. And even though Lindsay would move as well, Danny doesn’t want her to. He knows how much she loves her life and her job, she only would move because of Danny and that wouldn’t be right. Plus this way Danny can help Mac, Stella and the others with taking care of the animals, they never have enough helping hands and Danny seems to enjoy his job that as well.
But not only does Danny love taking care of the baby jaguar, he also loves being out in the wilderness and feeling free. Out there he forgets everything else, his job, the stress from his work and everything else that bothers him. Out there he can just be himself and spend time with Lindsay. Of course living in the jungle is completely different form living in a city like New York, but Danny doesn’t that at all. He doesn’t care that he can’t go to a bar or a restaurant, all he needs is Lindsay. That’s what makes him happy and nothing else. Lindsay can see that Danny loves Peru as well and her biggest wish is that he will stay there forever with her. She doesn’t want to push him to much or influence him, but she can’t help it, she shows him all her favorite places so he will fall in love with this little village, just like she did. But she doesn’t have to worry about influencing him, Danny loves Peru already. Like I said, he enjoys being together with Lindsay all day long and taking care of the baby jaguar. Though it seems like he has to learn how to take care of him. LOL “I'm looking for Rocky,” he sighed. “He escaped me.”-“He escaped you?” Lindsay through a quick glance at the small home Danny had created for the little jaguar. Indeed the cat wasn't in it anymore. “How could he get out of there?”-“I let him out,” Danny answered. “But then I just turned away for a second and he disappeared.”-“Just for a second?” Lindsay asked him. Danny looked back at her for a moment, then he sighed. “Fine, I was in the bathroom quickly. But really not longer than a minute maybe. Why did he have to hide? I hope he didn't get out of the house.” Lindsay laughed. “Don't worry, he's not strong enough to open the door himself. But did you check under the sideboard already?”-“Why should he go under there?” Danny wanted to know, did like he was told though. “Oh, what a crazy boy, he really went under there.” In amusement, Lindsay watched how Danny reached under the sideboard and carefully pulled the baby jaguar out from under it. “Hey, don't dare to do that again,” Danny said, stroking it gently. “I was really worried, you know? Imagine you got stuck under there.”
LMAO! That is so adorable! I love with how much passion Danny takes care of Rocky, the imagine of him, a tough city boy, taking care of a baby jaguar is so cute and simply heartwarming. And Lindsay seems to love this side of him as well; she can’t help but smile at him. She is till surprised that Danny got used to living in the jungle so fast, but she couldn’t be happier about it. Oh and just like Lindsay I love those sweet, little moment when they have some time for themselves and use this chance to be a normal couple. I love how Danny pulls her into his body, kisses her and simply enjoys being close to her. That always makes my heart beat faster. YAY! And my best friend Brian is back as well. LOL. I love him; he’s so cute when he’s looking for a piece of banana. Lindsay’s comment about Danny doesn’t like Brian near his food cracked my up btw. Unfortunately Danny’s and Lindsay’s mood gets worse when Danny checks his emails. “Is something wrong?” Danny shrugged. “My boss emailed me. He fired me.”-“Oh no.” Since the phone call, Lindsay had had the feeling that Danny's boss wouldn't be amused. Now that the boss had even chosen this step, she couldn't help the strong guilt she was feeling at those news. “I...really, I'm so sorry. I know working for him was a big chance. Do you think that maybe you can make him change his mind when you call him? Or head back to New York? Maybe he'll give it back to you.”-“It was my right to go on vacation and not have to fly back just because he wants me to,” Danny replied, clearly with anger in his voice. “I won't fly back to the city. I won't call him either. If he thinks he doesn't need me, he can go and look for someone else who he can treat like shit.”-“Are you sure you don't want to give it a try?” Lindsay wanted to know. “I mean...” She hesitated. “What?” he asked. She shrugged. “I don't want you to lose this chance because you came to visit me and because you didn't want to fly back.”
I knew that Danny’s boss would fire him eventually. He isn’t the guy who likes it when people talk back at him, he thinks he rules the world and that his employees will do whatever he says. But he was wrong, Danny doesn’t let him treat him like shit anymore, he has enough of that. So I can see why Danny isn’t too sad about losing his job. And hey that also gives him the chance to stay with Lindsay even longer than four weeks. How does forever sound, huh? ;-) And again, why am I not surprised that Lindsay feels guilty because of it? She likes to blame herself, we all know that, but Danny is right, it’s not her fault that Danny was fired. Danny made this decision all by himself. And you know what? I guess deep down, he already knew that his boss wouldn’t be too happy about him talking back, maybe he wanted his boss to fire him, so his decision to stay with Lindsay ion Peru would be easier for him!
Another absolutely stunning chapter hon, it’s amazing! :D
Woohoo! I am so happy and excited that you updated this wonderful fic again, I was so curious to find out whast was going to happen next and what Lindsay had planned for Danny. Excellent job sweetie, I can’t get enough of it. :D
That Danny’s mood isn’t the best after the phone call from his boss is complete normal and understandable. Just when Danny had a great time and enjoyed his vacation to the fullest, this jerk had to call him and treated him like I piece of trash. Idiot! Danny should’ve quit his job tight then and there. Lindsay noticed Danny is not feeling too well; this phone call definitely stressed him out and annoyed him. And Lindsay understands his behavior; she knows he hates his job and would love to do something else. Unfortunately it’s not an easy decision to leave everything behind, after all did Danny work hard for the job he has now. But no matter how much money he earns, he isn’t happy and content with his job. He hates the fact that he’s only working to make the rich people richer, for him there are more important things than money, I love that about Danny and Lindsay. So working in Peru would make him happy, he would be free and independent, he can do something that makes him happy.
I know Lindsay doesn’t want to influence Danny so he will stay for good in Peru, but she wants to be together with him. I think she should tell him that she wants him to stay. She wants him to be happy, that’s the only thing that matters for her. Not that he needs to think about it anymore, I’m sure that deep down Danny already made a decision for himself. Probably he’s only waiting for the right moment to tell her. So while we are waiting for this moment, Lindsay simply shows him more of her favorite places. “So where is your favorite place?” Danny asked once again as they left their house. Lindsay shook her head playfully. “You won't get it, huh? It's a surprise. I can only reveal this; it's in the jungle.”-“No, really?” Danny grinned. “Is it as nice as this lovely lake with the waterfall?”
Why am I not surprised that Danny mentions the waterfall? Then again, I can’t really blame him, it definitely is a hot and beautiful memory, I guess. But seriously, I love how Lindsay shows Danny around and brings him to her favorite places. I mean this way Danny will love this place even more than he already does and he will want to stay here as well. She knows exactly what she’s doing. LOL. I love Danny’s comment about guiding the speedboat, he’s such a guy. “Don't you think I should sit there? I'm the gentleman, I have to guide the boat.” Lindsay laughed. “Nah, let's not be old fashioned. You're my guest, so you'll lean back. Plus you have no idea where we're going to. Down the river, yeah, but following this river isn't as easy as it looks like.” Danny grinned. “My tough lady.” …“You really know this area, huh?” he asked then. “And that within just a year. I hope you didn't explore everything on your own.”Lindsay shook her head. “No, I guess that'd been crazy. I mean, the jungle might be nice, but it's dangerous. You shouldn't explore it on your own unless you know what's awaiting you.” Danny nodded slowly. “And you do know that?”-“Yep,” Lindsay answered, offering a calming smile. “Believe me, I know what I'm doing here. It took me a while until I dared to leave the village on my own. But when you live here for a whole year, without having much opportunities to go anywhere, you get to know every corner, every inch. I don't know the whole jungle either, but I know my favorite places pretty well by now. I also learnt how to protect yourself out here in the wilderness. You really don't have a reason to be scared.”-“What? I'm not scared,” Danny replied, shaking his head at her. “As if!”
Okay, we all believe Danny. Not! Who is he trying to fool, of course he’s scared. He is lucky to have Lindsay around; she will protect him from all those wild and dangerous animals which are waiting for Danny. LOL. Of course Lindsay sees right through him and knows exactly how he feels. I guess at the beginning Lindsay felt the same way, I mean living in the jungle is completely different than living in a big city like New York, so Lindsay surely needed some time to get used to it too. Thankfully she had Hawkes who showed her around and taught her everything she needed to know. As soon as Danny hears this he just has to make sure that there was nothing between Lindsay and Hawkes. “So you were shown around here by people from the village?” he asked then. “Yeah,” Lindsay answered. “Stella and I like to have our trips into the jungle, but at the beginning, it was mostly Sheldon who showed me everything. He taught me a lot.”-“I see,” was all she got in response, but his tone told her more than words. “There was never anything between him and me,” she said. “Oh, I didn't say that either,” he answered quickly, but she shook her head. He sighed. “Fine, maybe. Sheldon said you weren't together when I arrived, but...well, that doesn't mean you didn't give it a try in the past. I also know it's none of my business. Sorry if I came across as nosy.”
I think it’s normal that Danny wants to know if Lindsay and Hawkes have ever been more than friends, he’s definitely not noisy. I mean he loves Lindsay; he loves her for years already, so the thought of her being together with another man drives him crazy. And Lindsay feels the same way. Even though she and Danny only were friends with benefits, she knew that she loves him. Deep down she knew all along that he’s the one for her. So she just couldn’t start something with another man, just like Danny couldn’t date other woman. Thankfully this is no topic anymore; Danny and Lindsay are finally back together. Now Danny even thinks about leaving New York behind so he can be with Lindsay. Though I think he first has to get used to the speedboat and the super dangerous river. LOL. “Did you never fear to fall into that river?” Danny wanted to know with a suspicious glance. “I don't even wanna know what'd happen then.” Lindsay chuckled. “Did you never wonder what'd happen if you fell into the East River? Or into the Hudson? I doubt those are any safer than this river here, just in a different way.” A smirk lit her face as she nodded towards the riverbank not far away from them. “Look, we're almost there.” With that, she turned the boat around a bit and led them over to a beautiful, little clearing right at the river. Danny was relieved as the boat stopped finally and he felt the safe grass beneath his feet again. Lindsay watched him with an amused expression. “Relax, no piranhas can get you here,”
LOL. The image of Danny sitting in the little boat, terrified of piranhas cracks me up, he’s so adorable. But I guess he will soon forget about all the wild and dangerous animals, I mean Lindsay and their romantic picnic is a very nice distraction. And the way you describe this place I can see why. It sounds simply stunning. ”From here, they had a wonderful view into both directions; up and down the river. The blue sky above was free of any clouds, the sun was shining brightly and in front of them, they not only saw the jungle but also tall mountains towering in the distance. Those rainforest-covered mountains were perfect for an impressive view.” God, that’s the perfect place to relax, no wonder it’s one of Lindsay’s favorite places ever. Of course Danny understands why she loves this place, but he still wants to know more about what exactly made her stay in Peru. “I'm wondering what made you fall in love with this place so much. Why does it make you so happy? I mean, you were always a little Miss Sunshine, but now you smile in a way which I never saw before.” Lindsay's smile even seemed to widen. “That's quite easy,” she told him. “You want to start finding it out?” As he nodded, she said, “Then let me show you.” Adjusting her position a bit so she could face him, she nodded her head towards the blanket they were sitting on. “Lie down.”-“You having anything naughty in mind?”
OMG! That’s hilarious! Can Danny think about everything else than doing something naughty with Lindsay? His mind is in the gutter that’s for sure. But you know I love it, this side of him is so much fun and pretty hot as well. But seriously I love that Lindsay doesn’t just tell him why she has fallen in love with Peru, but shows him the why. She simply tells him to lay down, to close his eyes, to stop thinking and only concentrate on the noises around him. “And there was so much to listen to. He could hear the rushing of the trees that surrounded them. He could hear birds singing in the trees. He could hear monkeys in the distance. He could hear other animals which he didn't know yet. And he could hear the constant rushing of the river. All this together created a sound that had a surprising effect on him. In the morning, Danny had felt the old pressure returning when his boss had called. The pressure had stayed, no matter how much Lindsay had tried to distract him. But now all of the sudden all the pressure seemed to disappear and was replaced by a wonderful relaxing feeling. Instinctively, a broad smile lit his face.” And it works, Danny can relax and that’s what he needed after the phone call from his boss. Lindsay simply knows how to take care of Danny and how to cheer him up, she knows him so well.
Aw… that sounds so amazing, beautiful and relaxing. I think I really need to pack my bags. LOL. No wonder Lindsay fell in love with this place, it’s wonderful. Not only does she love her work, she only loves the feeling of being carefree. Just enjoying this stunning view or closing her eyes and listening to the noises around her help helps her to forget everything; work, stress or problems are suddenly miles away. That’s a wonderful thing. :)
I can’t wait to see which place Lindsay is going to show Danny next. So keep it up hon, and please update soon.
She has given him a great gift with making him relax and listen, she gave him peace. :) I totally get where she is coming from with their bosses and how they need to decide on what is good for them, because from the sound of Danny's phone call he isn't happy at all. I mean he was all happy and loose but now he is tense and angry, that isn't good.
But the best thing in here is that she isn't going to influence his decision, he wants to go back...that will be his decision to make, not hers. Even though she would LOVE to have him stay with her and the rescue operation. LOL, you know I love me a jealous Danny! So thank you on the subtle inference of her and Sheldon. That man is lovely but he is only looking out for Lindsay like a brother, and she looks out for him like a sister. Can't wait to see what his decision is, but I think I know. :D More please!
Thank you so much for updating this story. You always manage to put a huge smile on my face, you’re so awesome! :D
I’m happy to see that Danny gets used to living in Peru so fast. At the beginning I thought he would have more problems with handling his new life and adjusting to his new surroundings, but he loves Peru and enjoys every minute of his vacation. Of course it helps him a lot that he’s together with Lindsay and can be around her all day long, but that’s not the only thing he loves about Peru. For the first time in years, Danny is able to relax. In New York he was always busy, no matter if he was on vacation or not. Everything was just about money and time, no wonder Danny doesn’t like his job. In Peru working is completely different; never before he was so happy, relaxed and content with his life.
He loves taking care of Rocky and spending time with his little buddy Brian. Both of them are driving him crazy sometimes, but he wouldn’t have it any other way. For him taking care of them is more than just a job, he simply loves it. Of course this job is exhausting as well, but it’s completely different than working in New York. And he clearly loves this change. It feels incredibly good to be thousand miles away from New York, away from stress, hectic and money. Now he is immediately excited when he wakes up in the morning and not only because he shares a bed with Lindsay, but because he doesn’t know what the day will bring. Every day is new and exciting; he can’t wait to see more of Peru and is looking forward to visiting all of Lindsay’s favorite places together with her. More and more he feels home and with every passing day he realizes a little bit more that he doesn’t want to back to New York. It’s nice that we get to see what’s going on in Danny’s head while he’s lying in bed, cuddling with Lindsay. And I think there is no better way for him to wake up than with his Montana in his arms. “Hey,” he said. “You slept well?” She smiled back at him. “I always do. Especially at the moment.” Bending forward, she placed a kiss onto his lips. Then a sigh escaped her. “I'm sorry to do that to you, but I have to get up. There's a lot to do this morning.” He offered a soft smile. “No worries. I could join you under the shower though.” Chuckling, Lindsay kissed him again. “That sounds fantastic, but I really have to hurry. I guess you'd keep me in there for the next hour.”
LOL. I always love to see them flirting and teasing each other, it’s so much fun. But really how can Lindsay reject Danny’s offer? It would’ve been much more fun with Danny in the shower. ;) But seriously I never saw anyone before, who got so excited about going to work. It’s wonderful that Lindsay has so much fun going to work and it seems that Danny already feels the same way. But just when Danny is deep in thoughts again, his cell phone interrupts him. As soon as Danny picks up the phone and hears the caller’s voice he regrets answering the phone at all. And I can see why, it’s not so great when your annoying and unfriendly boss calls you while you’re on vacation. “There's a case I'd like to talk to you about,” Frank answered. “What?” …. “Why do you want to discuss a case with me now? I'm still in Peru.”-“Of course you are, but obviously you took your cell with you,” - “I did, but I didn't take it with me to discuss work,” … “I'm sorry, Frank, but you said it was about time I went on vacation. So I'm sure you can understand that during this vacation, I'm not in the mood to discuss a case with you.”-“I told you to go on vacation because of all your extra hours,” Frank answered. His voice wasn't just stressed now but filled with hints of anger as well. “You know that I'm not paying my employees for working extra hours.” Danny sighed. “I know that. But like I just said, I'm not going to discuss work while I'm on vacation. I worked all those extra hours. You have enough others who you can ask for help. What am I supposed to do from over here?”-“If this case gets complicated, you'll come back to New York of course,” …“You can safe your extra days for later.”
What the hell is Frank thinking? He’s so rude and ignorant, he’s making me speechless. I hate him! Danny should quit immediately! Danny shouldn’t let Frank talk to him like that, he works for him as a lawyer, he’s not his slave he can shove around and treat like shit. So I’m glad that Danny has enough, he won’t come back to New York for a case, when Frank could easily ask another lawyer to take over the case. I’m so proud of Danny that he spoke out what he was thinking and hangs up on Frank. Obviously Danny is can’t believe that he talked to his boss like that; he never thought he would do something like that. And I think the next time he talks to Frank, he will tell Danny that he doesn’ tneed to come back to New York, because I doubt Danny still has a job after talking to Frank like that. And you know what? I have the feeling that deep down Danny hopes for a reaction like that. He hates his job and wants to stay in Peru, so if Frank fires him, it’ll fit perfectly into his plan.
Lindsay also understand why he doesn’t care about his job, he simply doesn’t like it. He only accepted this job, because it was a good chance for him. I mean working for such a well know lawyer right after graduating is not bad, that’s for sure, but it doesn’t do you anything good if you hate it. Lindsay uses this opportunity to find out what exactly Danny is going to do about his job. She tries to be sneaky about it, but well all know that she only wants to hear Danny saying that he loves the job he’s doing in Peru and that he will stay here as well. Danny knows that as well and wants her to speak out what she’s thinking. He knows that she hesitates because she thinks he’s pushing him into something he doesn’t want. “Be honest,” -“Fine. To tell you the truth, I often wondered if working for a man like Johnson is right for you. You're fantastic with your job, but because you're a man who knows how to work hard, not because you're born to be a lawyer. I think you have so much potential to do so many things. Things that really make you happy. I know you're good and you're one reason why Johnson wins so many cases. But I can see it in your eyes. You're not happy with this job. That's why you're not really scared what he could do now that you're ignoring him. You don't really want this.” -“Continue,” he said. “Sometimes you should just speak out what you have in mind. I promise I won't feel pressured.”
And that’s exactly what Lindsay’s doing. She doesn’t want Danny to go back to New York; she wants him to stay in Peru with her. After two years apart, Danny and Lindsay are finally together again and she doesn’t want miss him ever again. She wants to spend the rest of her life with him. In Peru. “Okay. Well, I see how you're behaving since you're here. The truth is, I wondered if you would be able to handle being here. You're a city boy through and through. I always knew that maybe being a lawyer wasn't right for you, but I was sure you belonged into the city. Now you're here and I'm not so sure about that anymore. I mean, look at how relaxed you are. Look at how comfortable you feel. You don't seem stressed at all. That's exactly how I felt when I decided to stay and work here. Everything is so new, but you get used to it so easily. I love being here. I don't want to say this is the perfect job for you, but I think you're pretty good at it. Look at how much you enjoy taking care of you baby jaguar, how you love to play with Brian and how you help us with the other animals. This is a job which is so different to everything you ever did, but maybe it's good for you…. You know, I really don't want to influence you. I want you to do what makes you happy. But the thing is, you seem to be happy here. I don't want to talk you into staying here for myself. I would love you to stay here of course, but the most I want you to be happy, Danny. And I have the feeling you could be happier here with working for us than with working for Johnson. Like I said, I don't want to talk you into anything, and who knows, maybe there's another job out there which you'd love to do. I just want you to think about one thing. What do you really want?”
WOW… I couldn’t have said it any better, I love Lindsay little speech. I was hoping that she would speak out what she has on her mind. And Lindsay should stop worrying about pushing Danny into a life he doesn’t want. Of course she wants him to be happy, but Danny can only be happy if he stays with Lindsay in Peru. Without her he would go crazy. And everything Lindsay said, is exactly what Danny wants as well; experiencing adventure together with her, taking care of the animal and simply being together with her. He doesn’t want to go back! In New York he just isn’t happy, he hates his job, the stress and hectic. And Danny can only agree with her, he knows she’s right with everything she said. Lindsay knows that Danny has to digest what Lshe has told him and she also knows the perfect way to distract him and cheer him up again after Frank’s phone call. She will show him another one of her favorite places. :D “May I ask where you're favourite place is?” he wanted to know. She grinned. “I think you know the answer already.” He laughed. “It's a surprise?” She nodded. “Exactly.”
LOL. Lindsay is such a tease. Now Danny won’t be able to wait until Lindsay returns from her work, he will be too excited to concentrate on anything else. Not that I don’t understand him, because I do, I’m just as excited as Danny is, I can’t wait to see what Lindsay has in mind. Plus it’ll help Danny to calm down again; Frank’s phone call really stressed him. So please hon, update soon. :D
Frank is a butt! How could he push his best lawyer out of the building and then expect him to answer all of his questions while still on vacation? That is a time to relax and have fun, not to think about work. I get how he needs an important question answered but still, he is the one who didn't want to pay Danny for those hours and urged him to go, so he shouldn't be unhappy at what he got. Lindsay is right, Danny needs to make this decision on his own. If she just walked in and made it for him, how would he know it was right for him, for them?
The one thing that I did hate is how Frank interrupted a good morning that was starting to get filled by sexy banter and a possibility of Danny asking if he could wash her back. :) At least he woke up relaxed and happy, I hope that however else the rest of the day goes, he can end it the same way. :) Awesome job!
