Don't you think, since it's first person POV, that he should use the "-dono" honorific for Yumi? Ah, I guess he does the second time, but not the first.

Liked this line, "How does he know me so well when we don't know each other at all?"

"She is smiling. Just like Tomoe." Ah, I'm gonna cry! That single line deserves a favorite. Though I think it would have an even better impact if there was no "owari" or A/N after it.

This is a breath-taking awesome fic. The writing is stylistically simple...and haunting too.

What works most is how u blocked out the surroundings (atmosphere) and went straight for character intakes...except the part about snow everywhere...which was a beautiful touch. As is Kenshin's shock at finding Yumi smilling in death.

The parallel is resounding... it is displayed in awesome manner.

I've long enjoyed this fanfic, but to my surprise, I realized I'd never left a review. You've put so much into only 544 words. Cool.

Touching and well-written. The parallels are clearly there but I don't think I have seen a story which explored them before.

You know, the disturbing thing is despite writing a line on the similarity of Yumi's death to Tomoe's in my own fic, I never once thought of what might've been going through Kenshin's head at the time. ;; Yes, this is the first time I've read this one of yours ... the last time I went through your profile I was ignoring one-shots, hehe. _ A sad little story, and one I'm definitely happier (okay, that sounds odd) for reading!

I too thought this part of his fight with Shishio must have given Kenshin flashbacks or nightmares..or both. It is just so similar to what happened to Tomoe. The last two sentences resound so deeply in my mind that it is almost haunting. I am very, very impressed. Beautiful.

I like this alot. My thoughts on what Kenshin saw was the three girls, Akane, Kasumi, and Sakura, begging for the bandits to spare Kenshin's life and Shisio was little 7 yr. old Kenshin. But I can see why this works as well. Anyway, keep up the good work.

I can't think of anything else to say except that I absolutely loved it. I've thought about the link between Tomoe and Yumi's deaths before, but you put it into words absolutely perfectly.
