This was downright perfect. So beautiful and heartwrenching, the same way DEs relationship never fails to be. I find it so deeply moving that she'd chose not to turn for him, and yet he remains by her side until her very last day... because as you said... she defines him; she's his everything. He ceases to exist in a world where she doesn't, and the ending just drove that point and me into tears.

You're right, the story is sad, but the beauty in the romantic melancholy is poetic. Losing a love, especially one as true as Damon's for Elena is heartbreaking, but his, peaceful calm about the fact is so moving. He isn't distraught and sobbing, he just accepts that now is the time they can truly be together forever and makes sure that it is so. The tone was perfect, the story was perfect... Just absolutely job well done. I applaud you.

You've long been probably my favorite author ("Damon has that look that speaks of temptation and sin and sex, and Elena looks entirely too at home in that blue Chevy" is definitely one of my favorite lines ever), and even though they make me cry, sad fics always are some of my favorites. I thought this fic was beautifully written, as always. I also love how you didn't say Damon or Elena in the fic at all-that style is another favorite of mine, and it's something I made a point to do with my recently published True Blood fic, and an unfinished TVD one. I love the thought that the entire world knows who "her" is to Damon and who "he" is to Elena, they're that important. I hope that makes sense, like how your explanation made sense to me! Once again, love all of your fics so much, you're such a talented writer :)

The discussion on the wedding day was beautiful. Damon is not a poet, he's not Stefan, always saying the right thing. His simple statement was enough. For both of them. And when she didn't want to Turn...This story is the reason I read fanfic. I see Elena telling him that. And the little bit about Bonnie had me wanting to know what happened to everyone else.

I think the most I appreciate the most were that the characters were there. It wasn't some other world or you manipulating them to suit your own story, though fanfic is great for those purposes also. Sorry for the very long review but I really enjoy a good fanfic. So thank you for writing.

Loooooved it! I don't understand why everyone is so anxious for teenage girls to give up their lives. I sure as heck wouldn't! And Elena seems to have made it clear that at least at this point the idea of dying and becoming immortal isn't what she wants. I love that you showed the alternative in a provocative, sweet way. Definitely one of the best Damon/Elena stories I've read. I hope you write more one-shots soon!
