Kass 12/18/12 . chapter 1 I'm still smiling; that was brilliant and very well-written. Thankyou for sharing c: |
Spikesagitta 4/23/11 . chapter 1Nice :) will there be a second chapter? I hope so! |
They-Call-Me-Orange 3/9/11 . chapter 1This was great! I really, really loved the banter. Morrigan and Alistair's bickering is always insanely entertaining. I think you got everyone pretty in character - the bit about Leliana reaching for her dagger was a nice touch. She's so sweet and silly that it's pretty easy to forget that she was a freakin' spy for years. The nods to Andraste's Grace and the grimoire were also noticed and appreciated. Gotta give you a ton of props for trying something in the Dragon Age fandom. I really love the games and sometimes I want to write for it, but damn it's intimidating! Despite what some people might say, the reason we write fanfiction (or at least the reason we post it) is because we want some sort of approval. We want to put something out there and hear what people think of it. That's really what it boils down to. And the reason that it's so challenging to write for videogames (at least any of the ones I WANT to write for) is that everyone expects something different. Something that reflects their experience. And it's gotta be tough when someone goes looking for a version of, say, Cousland that's a sarcastic joker but all they can find is somber and melancholy. Regardless of all that, it seemed that you had a clear vision for your Warden (and your party) and you went with it. The resulting work was very sure of itself and really easy to read. I always found the Dalish to be the most interesting of the cultural groups in Ferelden. To be very blunt, I think they're total badasses. They were the first origin I played and I think it really colored the way I think of the world of Dragon Age (ie. humans can be total dicks, fuck the Chantry, etc.). I sympathized with their plight and there's something compelling of getting to play the game with something to prove. The particularly noteworthy racial tension the origin imbued on the rest of the game was really interesting for me. It's part of why I really enjoy Leliana/Mahariel romance. There's a lot of things that would make them a bad idea, but the conflict there is full of delicious, delicious potential. Aaaaand, this incredibly long review is just leading up to me begging you to continue with more stories in the universe you set up here. You set-up a really great dynamic between all of your characters and I'd really like to read more. Also, perhaps if you continued on I could live vicariously through your writing until I muster up the courage to take a crack at it myself. But it's hard and scary, so I think you should do it instead of me. *nods* Right. So. Great job on this. Thanks for posting, I really enjoyed it. -Orange |
Gorg 2/14/11 . chapter 1hey :) really great to find some good DragonAge femslash. I reckon you did a really good job with the charactersiation, particularly Morrigan's actions. And Wynne's eyebrows, haha. It was also really good that you made the Warden character have an actual personality... it's hard in fics to intoduce other characters, and you managed to make one who was unique among a unique group and interesting in her own right. If a little sulky maybe :P moar fic for gorg sometime soon? :D |
